You may think what you want but losing Can on a free will definitely be a blow. A young lad like him who still hasn't reached his peak is easily worth £30-40m in todays market. I also think we'll be fine without him (even if I preferred he stayed), but we're not really Man City that can afford to lose such an asset without getting anything from it.

It's weird because originally Can wanted £100k a week to stay with us and maybe with the way things are going concerning money and players being on a fortune it seems like a reasonable request. But suddenly he now thinks he can push for a £200k a week contract. I know his agent will be whispering in his ear to try and get that kind of contract, but no club in Europe will surely offer him that.

Emre is 24 now and his next contract will encompass the best years of his career so I can see why his agent is aiming high.
200k a week may sound ridiculous but don't forget if he does move there won't be a fee involved, we've had players ourselves in the past like Milner and Kewell who have been in a similar situation, when there is no transfer fee the club can afford to up the wages.

Yup that is why Sanchez is on a ridiculous wage.

Really the club shouldn't have let his contract run down below the 2 year mark, I know in the real world its often easier said than done but we have been stung by this in the past (Mcmanaman, Owen etc).

I read Salah is only on 50k a week and if that's true no way Can is getting 200.

Could be a BS story to try and justify letting the deal run down who knows, Can has not earned 200k a week, steady but unspectacular progress.

I can see the 200 going to Salah though, at some point we will have to increase his salary significantly.

If Can’s agent can find a club to pay him 200k pw then good luck to him, great work.

I'm sure we are paying Milner 180k a week or something ridiculous like that. When there's no transfer fee involved wages tend to be high.

It wasn't just the money. His agent was demanding a buy out clause too, for a relativity lowly sum.

Once you start doing that you're on a slippery road when it comes to the likes of Salah and Mane negotiating new deals.

If can goes and signs a contract which pays him 200k a week and a 5 odd mil signing on bonus then the club that gives it to him would be saving a fortune. He is easily worth 30+ mil in fairness.

We are rumoured to be offering Salah a new contract 6 months after he signed worth 200k a week. Absolutely no idea why we would be considering this when he has 4 1/2 years to run and on top of that has expressed numerous times how happy he is here. A bit rash imo after one season.

Presumably it's because other clubs are scuffing around. Allegedly Coutinho and Suarez have told Barca to try and sign him

When he finally goes, no one will even notice. He'll go out like a wet fart.

Good player that I would prefer to keep but never worth 200k per month unless on a free ( even then). Looking at the teams that want him though dispel any myth that he is an average player.

Have a gut feeling that he's off to Man City....hence the secrecy about what his next move is.

He'll get a big pay day, for sure, but think we can easily improve on him.

Dont think he is man city level... and I think he seems to be respectful not to call another english club a very big club...

I don't see what the fuss is all about. I'm tired of all this "will he, won't he" stay or leave at the end of the season.

He can leave right now for all I care. The problem with our midfield is that NONE of them (Milner, Hendo, Wjnaldum, Can,Lallana, Ox) etc, can really score many goals a season, between them.

If Can goes, as well as Keita next season, we need at least another world class Midfielder who can score goals. We only have our front three who can score. If any of them get a long lay-off, we will be right up shiit creek. :nod
