We fix our defence and Mings will be fine.

No. No he won't be fine.
Sorting out the defence might well reduce the number of opportunities he gets to completely fuck it up and give us all heart failure, but it wont change the fact that he is a dangerously cr@p keeper.
Yeah sure, he does stop the odd shot occasionally, but that's his bleedin' job! Every time an opposing side gets a corner these days, we're all holding our collective breath because his flapping about inspires zero confidence.
Pepe Reina used to get a bit of stick for making mistakes, but he was far, far better than this sack of sh1t. I'd take Pepe back in a heartbeat.

Anyone know why we made no attempt to try and get Petr Cech when he was leaving Chelsea? I'm guessing he wanted to stay in London, was that it?

I'm guessing he probably looked at this forum first and thought "If I make a mistake then all my past form and career stats will be forgotten and I'll become absolute dog Sh*t within no time at all. The fans will turn on me in a breathe, fk it I'm staying in London"

I didn't 'turn on him' because I never rated him in the first place. Never thought he was good enough, never though he should've been brought in at all, let alone as our first choice keeper, and he has never convinced me that I'm wrong. I'm convinced I'm right. We can agree to disagree though because there's no sense in us having a go at each other over the head of a totally dog-sh1t goalkeeper like Simon.

that's the point though he's not dog Sh*t is he? really? dog Sh*t is a strong term, he might not be top quality or good enough for this club but 'dog Sh*t' ? ??
He's still a red and I'm more offended by your ability to label one of our first team players as 'dog Sh*t'.
but as you say, agree to disagree.

He's lucky to get that new deal imo, he's been here 3 years and there's pretty much been a question mark hanging over him the entire time.

Did Sunderland a massive favour yesterday, virtually handed them their 1st goal.  His performances reflect that of  the teams , i.e sometimes excellent and sometimes Sh*t.

Problem is when you GK is so inconsistent it can really cost you   :(

Handing this guy a 5 year contract is, for me, the first serious question mark beside Klopp's judgement.

guys a five year contract to him means nothing,
it only extend his transfer value for the club to sell him next year.
same as appointing someone as captain doesnt mean that he wont be sold.

Lets face it if we brought in a top keeper, Mignolet would then make a more than decent back up and as Octsky points out, length of contract means nothing other than giving us a little more leverage when it comes to selling.

Correct! This signing is all about a selling on fee should it come to that. We can't ever afford another Stevie Mac or Owen.

The 5 year contract is just to protect an asset. Doesn't mean a thing really. Think he will go in the summer, he isn't upto it
