Well, I got manure, Arsenal, City, Chelski, spurs, Sunderland, Everton, Lfc, Newcastle, Blackburn, Bolton, Stoke, Villa, Fulham, Birmingham, Blackpool, Wolves, West Ham, West Brom and Wigan.
So, we ended 8th still with practically no plus goal difference.

Just lovely when some are mentioning Suarez, Lukaku etc.
No european football at all to offer next season but the world's best will come cause we were great in the past.....

The most important achievement out of THIS season has already been achieved, a change at the top. For once the position for this season is actually secondary to a change of ownership and a change of manager.
If you had said last August that within 6 months we would have got shut of the Yanks and Kenny Dalglish would be manager you would have taken that all day long.
Lets try and get away from the immediate nature of football these days and think more long term. With Kenny at the helm and people like Steve Clarke on-board Liverpool Football Club are beginning to put a foundation in place to build upon.
That is why i couldn't care less where we finish positionally this season as long as we dont go down !

I agree, but therefore the expectations footballwise and playerwise must be realistic short term.
Which it is certainly not right now. We won't be back anywhere near the top for the next few seasons. The sooner that reality is accepted the better.

Fantastic common sense, and what I posted yesterday in the Kenny Dalglish thread, but far better put.
This season is going to be a long hard slog and there will be many dissapointments along the way..
Some realism is now required.

Stop being pessimistic, players would be attracted to Liverpool not based on what happened in the last 2 years, but what happened in the past and present. We are one of the biggest clubs in England, if not the BIGGEST. We just had a 2 year blip that soon will get out of it because now we have some stability. Any player who will read, watch and look at Liverpool's past, ambition and winning mentality the club possess would be attracted to play for us.

I agree about the league positions not being of any real significance this season - so long as we don't get drawn into a relegation battle. Otherwise there's no real difference in finishing 12th or 8th, while at the other end a Europa League spot could be looked upon as a bonus or a hindrance given all the travelling it entails and the relative standing it holds as a competition. The next six months is really about whether we can restore some lost pride, and build some kind of momentum that we can then carry over into next season. Just getting rid of Babel is a step in that direction I feel, and we could go a step further if we signed a player or two who could go straight into the first team. Such is the standard of the current group it's not going to take "world class" signings to make a real difference on that front. Just take a look at Spurs and ask yourselves how many of them would get in our squad.

I said 12th after the Blackpool game...i think we'll finish about 8th or 9th...sad really but the season was lost in October.

This is the most sensible post I have read in a long time! This isn't the season to think about what big star players are coming in and how we are going to reach for European spots.
This is about how we can reach mid table obscurity and then use the summer to start our rebuild. Selling all the dead wood and start the rebuild with some new young, hungry and talented players. Hopefully next season we can start to think about challenging for European places.
The best thing for us right now is to stop dreaming about the big players coming in this season to shore up a weak squad and think about getting through the season and then having a root and branch change in the playing squad. Hopefully, Steve Gerrard and Nando would stay on board to give us the experience and quality along with Carra.

I tend to agree but with the renewed optimism driven from performances that have showed change is in the air, maybe our season could be salvaged somewhat.
Kenny himself said that even under Hodgson we were extremely unlucky to of lost some of the games we did. He said the team was performing better early on in the season than are now. With that said there is no reason to get back to that level of performance under new direction and turn fleeting good performances into a run of results.

Agreed. I'd rather take no signings in January than sign more mistakes. The season is lost and i, as well as many other Reds, have accepted it. Whats important now is to get some respect back, I don't think we'll get relegated but we need to at least finish in the top half.
I think we can do that and if we get into Europe i'll consider it a bonus. The summer is the time to really kick things off and i know come next season my expectations won't be too high. It might take 5-8 years to get this club back to the top, but i'll be there every step of the way!!!!

Depends on who we bring in. Just having Suarez upfront with Torres might be enough to turn draws into wins and loses into draws but id still say we need a player like Adams to sort out or midfield and a solid defender to steady the back. If we dont get anyone well be lucky to saty up even with Kenny incharge.
I predict 7th if we buy well 15th if we dont get anyone

6th at best. the top 5 are miles ahead of us but nobody can convince me that the likes of bolton and sunderland are better than us even though they are above us at the moment.
