Two assists against the Scum so far tonight - looks like we released him at exactly the right time!  :buttrock

Ah well the Hammers didn't beat the scum, so Joe Cole is officially rubbish once again.

He was anonymous apart from two decent crosses.  If United had a decent defence he wouldn't have had any assists today.

I'd never say Cole didn't give 100% for us when he played, because I think he did.  Nor do I blame him for the massive contract he was on, because it was the club who offered it despite his form never really picking up for Chelsea after his bad injury in 2009.

I just genuinely think the lad was past it when we signed him.

spot on.  Good player when he had pace, but sadly he's past it and West Ham is the best place for him.  Wish him all the best, but hope he doesn't do so well when we play the hammers again  :;):

Surely West Ham can do what they like?  The pay off was between Joe and us...nothing to do with West Ham, which means he can play in any game they choose.

There may have been a clause in the contract when we sold him that prevented him being played against us.

Cole's departure leaves us yet another player short in midfield. I thought lessons might have been learned from the last transfer window of selling players without replacements. The squad is too small and we need another 2 or 3 players this month. I hope they don't leave it until the last minute like last summer. The lack of transfer activity is concerning.

We need to lower teh wage bill before we can add to it so yes, we create gaps, to be filled by better players. We're in transition mate and we have to accept it. 12 more months til we have a stable squad I reckon. Got to get rid of the Geordie Fairy yet....
