Milan Jovanovic delighted to be joining a European giant after signing three-year deal at Liverpool

Milan Jovanovic admitted the chance to join one of the biggest clubs in Europe was too good to knock back after snubbing Valencia for Liverpool.

The 28-year-old Standard Liege striker will arrive at Anfield in the summer after signing a three-year deal.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez's former club Valencia were reported to be in advanced negotiations with the Serbia international.

But Jovanovic said: 'We have reached an agreement for three years, with the option to extend with another season.

'I have yet to undergo a medical exam, but that shouldn't be a problem. I don't have any physical problems and I'm feeling perfectly fit.

'I opted to sign for Liverpool because they're one of the biggest teams around in Europe. They're definitely among the 10 biggest sides.

'I'm absolutely delighted that the deal is completed. From now on, I can focus on Standard Liege again. I want to leave the club in a good way.'

Welcome to Liverpool FC!

Welcome fella.

I hope he is thrown in to the side when he arrives (if he's good enough, I don't know him tbh) instead of playing cameos here and there and taking the best part of a season to find his form.

To anyone thats seen him play, what position exactly does he play. Is he any good etc? A nice overview of this fella would be much appreciated. :D

He's a decent finisher , got a decent pace and can dribble well , only problem will be his temperament but on a free it looks like a good deal , if only we could secure chamakh as well

don't know a huge amount about him, but i think he can play on the left wing, as well as up front.

He is a decent player, watched him a few times and he's quite a cool customer, I think he is quite left footed which could be an advantage.

Welcome Milan!

Only seen him a few times but seemed like a decent player.

Doesnt make many mistakes, keeps it simple, good at dribbling and has a nice finish.

Should be a good backup for when Torres is out

The last time we signed a striker with THAT intention, he flopped. It's also the reason Crouch left. I would sincerely hope Rafa has a different plan this time round...

That's in a "rumour" thread somewhere....but he's also linked to InterMilan, Citeh and others....One report out of Russia suggested it was a done deal that he comes here in the summer....

From what I hear he is a tidy player too. Hope that one is true.

I think Liverpool have moved swiftly to secure his signature ,given all the interest from some top clubs ,in fact albeit from Man City and Chelsea I cant see many other teams spending big in the Summer ,especially given the pittance  spent in the January transfer window and with that in mind Liverpool may have a real steal

Milan

Two fine goals superbly taken  :D

This stinks of a Voronin deal to me.
He is 28 years old and is playing for Standard Liege!!!

I truly hope not and that he turns out to be a steal.........time will tell

I would be happy with this deal if we sign a top notch striker as well
