Liverpool sign new player

Liverpool have signed 16 year Kristján Gauti Emilsson from FH Hafnarfjördur. The midfielder will Travel to Liverpool to sign the contract next week.


The player born 26th of April 1993 impressed on trial last month. He played 3 matches for the Icelandic champions this season and at 16 he has already played twice for the Icelandic u-19 national team, three times for the u-18 team and Seven times for the u-17 team. In those 12 matches he has also banged 6 goals.

I think this is the first player we've ever signed who has a bionic left knee though Joe in fairness.

But how many not from Iceland have worked at Iceland........................?

Is he going to walk into the first team? Probably not. Is he any more likely to break into the first team than any other promising kids Rafa has signed? Probably not. So Rafa is doing what Houllier did before him, loading up the club with players that won't impact on the battlefield and when the war is over will all be casualties of the next incoming general ie sold if/when Rafa comes just like Rafa cleared out his predecessor.

Like Houllier, Rafa is planning for a long term stay just at a time when long term has no certainty.
