PEPE REINA - Official Thread

We are top of the table at the moment and despite the doom and gloom merchants we are having a very good season. It could be argued that our best player so far has been our Spanish keeper.

Another brilliant display away to Blackburn yesterday including a superb save from Pederson. Ask yourself if you would swap him with any other keeper in the Prem. All in all we have a good defense when everyone is fit but the knowledge that Reina is behind them must give them more confidence.

10 of our 16 games in the league this year he has kept a clean sheet. He also seems ro be very popular around the team, Gerrard came out recently and said that he reckons Pepe could be a future Liverpool captain

yeah for me i don't care about the spanish think he is top 3 keeper in europe easy no one even touchs him on same level.

Most of goals he lets in are not even his fault.

That one at blackburn was down to poor defending and not closing down corner.

Top class.  :)

Wierd becuase liverpool over last 15 years we have not be blessed with consistant keepers now we have a real gem and should give him all the praise he deserves.  :nod

Every top team has a decent keeper at the heart of it. He has made some important saves so far and its easy to let his contribution go unnoticed. Hats off to Pepe he means as much to the team as anyone else imo.

A fitting tribute to an unsung hero Dundalk. He is top class, chuffed we have him. The fact he's still only 26 is great, he could have a long glittering career at this club. :)

without diverting the topic of the thread I do worry about prospect of an exodus should Rafa leave

And I think Pepe actually blurted out last year if Rafa ever left he would go back to Spain.  :D

Anyway thats not the topic of discussion so I will drop it there.

Best keeper in the world for me! Just a shame Spain also have Casillas. Spain are lucky, look at England. They dont even have 1 decent keeper :D

Excellent pro-active keeper who has great footwork and superb distribution.

We are so lucky he hasn’t picked up a serious injury since he has been here because the backup has been and is currently pretty poor.

Reina's been immense--at the very top of his game this season.  He's a huge reason why we're so rock-solid at the back.  Beyond that, he seems a very down-to-earth lad who's always good for a laugh (cameraro!).  A legend in the making. :nod

Pepe is abit like Carragher with other fans... way under-rated. Pepe though nearly always wins the golden gloves for clean sheets and I really can't see many better in the business. #Plus, he gets rid of the ball faster than anyone else in the game
