Dutch rapping is as bad as Welsh!

No-one will better Johnny Barnes's efforts.

Thank God you're not seriously suggesting he is Sainty mate. Feck me I had palpatations then that the bloke who I nearly always agree with had lost his marbles. If any of the younger fans can't remember Barnes, check him out in videos and stuff. Jesus Christ what a footballer he was, put him in our team now (as he was then of course) and we'd go very very close to winning the Premiership. At his absolute pinnacle, around the time when we were spanking Man Utd 4-0 he'd probably be enogh of an addition for us to win it I should think.

:D To be honest I think this mock of S@int about how reliable is youtube to assess players is not only spot on, but also VERY PERTINENT for this part of the year. :)

Yes, he can rap better than JB.

Sadly, he's about 1/100th the player...

Let's all remember John Barnes was now world beater at Babel's age.

Let's get behind the kid at the match, all he needs is confidence and a little more stamina.

and maybey a song from the kop ( with the amount of wasted effort singing "Ha-ry, Ha-ry Kew-ell" i think the lad deserves it)

sumed up perfectly mate! however one of my all time
favourites for the club wrote "the anfield rap" it
wasn"t craig"s fault barnesy thought he could rap
as well as he played  :D  but as for comparing the
two on the field is no contest, i was privaliged enough
to watch JB on a regular basis, his performance against
Q.P.R one season was unforgetable. craig johnston
scored in that game aswell! for me we are still trying
to replace JB to this day, i do rate babbel & feel this
season is massive for him, if he can have a consistant
run in the team he could play a big part in our future.
i only hope his injury isn"t serious enough to disrupt
his form & he works hard to get fit as soon as possible
to get some decent pre-season form together & produce
hopefully the form, that will prove he can be mentioned
in the same breath as JB.

I was actually privalidged enough to see Barnsey live a couple of times, he actually used to live down the road from me too, but thats another story Sabre.

Saw him live at Highbury in 1990, but it wasnt one of his best displays. He was outshone that night bya one Ronnie Rosethial (sp) who for a period there could do know wrong. But JB himself was on another level back in those days. Everything from his curling free-kicks to his skill on the ball would be the perfect example for young kids to watch. His upper body strength was pretty much similar to that of Maradonnas and the bloke wasnt easy to shrug off the ball. One of my all time favourites, Babel has a long way to go before emulating him.

Granted, Ryan Babel will never be as unselfish as Barnsey, due to his striking instincts.

But once again, 21 year old JB was not at Babel's level, so who knows what could happen ?

By the way, JB was my hero also, he is probably the reason i'm into footy.

Nice one saint and you are right, Babble is much better (was he lipsyncing though or actually singing)

Barnes was an excellent player who would have fit in under raffa as he ran all over the field. Babble I like alot and will be a great player for us I have a feeling. Van Basten rates him as he is the only player to play in every qualifier, a mainstay in the Dutch team. Not bad for one so young.
