Rotation hasn't won him the league, but the University world has awarded him with one of the most respected titles in Academic world, I'll try to translate you the news, despite the text has academic strange words difficult to translate. (Bad Bob, feel free to correct when it makes sense another word, and fix the thread title, btw, please :D )

Rafael Benítez, Liverpool's manager, will be sworn Doctor Honoris Cause for the Miguel Hernandez (UMH) university of Elche the next June the 4th, that will take place in an academic act at 12.00 PM in the Assembly Hall of that Campus.

The Doctorate Student (Rafa) will be defended by the godfather Eduardo Cervelló, Vice Dean of Physical Education and Sports of that university.

With this award, the UMH wants to acknowledge the work of Rafa in scientific methodology in the Physic Activity Sciences, and for applying those to football training. This Subject has become one of the most popular subjects in academic world as of late.

<snip Rafa's football well known career>

Rafael Benítez has a grade in Business School and has also a grade in Physic Education (2 university careers!) for the INEF.

The Liverpool manager, has, besides that, done doctorate studies in Physical education and is a Football Master, after preparing himself for that in the INEF.

Nothing much to discuss here mates, it's just another view about our manager.

2 years ago I listened to a couple of doctors giving a lecture about rotation and muscular injuries and they put Liverpool's methodology as top of the tops in technology and science.

Yes I know it hasn't given us the title yet, but at least he has the backing of the scientific community :D

Congratulations Rafa, I know it will make him proud this award, I don't know if it has the same importance in England, but it will be important for him.

Sabre - it's quite common for someone successful in their field, or just someone famous,
to get an honourary degree.

Although, football managers dont seem to get them regularly.

What is the title of the degree?

I think even Robert Mugabe recieved an honourary degree from somewhere. Although I think that has since been revoked.  :p

What? now tell me Peewee and WollyBack also have one  :D

Here sometimes the King and others are given a honorary doctorate (Thanks LFC2007, here the old latin term is used), but other than that it's a very rare award to receive. Or at least, it should be rare.

Hmmm, they've given him an honoury doctorate for his contributions to Sports Science.  Maybe Big Mick was too quick to mock the Delayed Gazelle Theorem? ???

Mugabe has been "Honored"by at least three universities.

Edinburgh was the first of three leading universities to grant him an honorary doctorate in 1984 for his "services to education in Africa",  But the university has said that it would not have granted the degree had it known then of his alleged role in the deaths of up to 20,000 people in Matabeleland.

In the US, the University of Massachusetts (UMass) was poised to take similar steps over an honorary doctorate of laws it awarded him in October 1986, after a meeting of its board of academic and student affairs .

The authorities at a second US university, Michigan State, confirmed that they were also investigating whether honorary degrees, including a doctorate of laws, granted in 1984 and 1990 could be revoked, in response to student protests
