Even if we qualify fourth we've still got to get through the qualifying rounds.

If we do, do you think we'll get through the first round or is it just for the money?  ???

As things stand this Liverpool team would probably scrape through the qualifier before finishing third in their group.

That sounds about right, depending on who's in charge next season of course. By qualifying for CL I think unfortunately Houllier will still be here

I don't believe we'd make any impact in the Champion's League.

It would be an early exit.

We'd get stuffed

The qualifiers are generally against a p1ss poor side, we should get through them. The fact is we haven't made any impact on Europe since our UEFA Cup win and we will struggle next season IF we make it into the CL. Kermit should go even if we make fourth, he isn't good enough

Owzat, I don't remember did Newcastle make it though the qualifiers I don't think they did.  Truth is we are no better than them so if they can't do it why should we?

No, they fell at the qualifying hurdle to Partizan Belgrade on penalties I believe

I think we have better resources, they have Robert and more importantly Shearer to carry them. Aside from those two, the only players I'd want are Woodgate and possibly Bellamy, the rest I couldn't care less for

Realistically if Newcastle lost Shearer they would be a mess.

Bellamy is a good player when fit, because he's suffering a lot lately.

Robert is brilliant on his day, which is about once a month.

Given is a decent keeper, Woodgate a decent centre half when fit (about 50% of the season).

To be honest, there's nothing special about the others. Dwyer is hugely over rated and Jenas still too young.

Yes....I agree we are avin' a laff, but there is always a faint chance our circumstances may change and new inspiration is found within the bodies of our bedraggled troops.A new season brings new hope and perhaps a fresh approach to the way we play, with some new players to help us and maybe someone at the helm who can bring out the best of those players.

we've got no chance of doing anything in the champions league. to be perfectly honest there is NO TEAM in the premiership who deserve to finish 4th this season. whoever finishes there will probably be about 35 points behind arsenal. in 1997 sunderland finished 34 points behind the winners and they were RELEGATED. it's scary to think that we would consider this season a success.

no-one will see it as a success... we'll see it as a consolation and main aim to rescue what is a nightmare of a season.

What we should do IF we make the fourth spot is get shot of Kermit, get a new manager in and let him have £25m+ to add to the squad. We might then have a chance of doing something in the CL or even the UEFA Cup if we get knocked out. If Kermit survives into next season then look forward to more of the same.........
