From Football 365:

Jamie Carragher has been arrested and cautioned by police for common assault after a 'fracas' on the street.

The Liverpool vice-captain was involved with an altercation on Tuesday morning as he was on his way to training at Melwood.

A witness called police to report that two men were arguing by the side of the road and identified Carragher, who was later informed that the other man had lodged a complaint against him.

He attended the police station with his solicitor and accepted a caution - which is an admission of guilt - for common assault, with the Liverpool Echo describe as 'the lowest form of assault and can include anything from spitting to shoving'.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "We can confirm that a 30-year-old man from the Blundellsands area received a police caution for common assault in relation to an incident on Liverpool Road, Crosby, on Tuesday February 26."

Status of offence
This is the least serious assault and, under s11 Domestic Violence Crime and Victims Act 2004, a common assault can be an alternative verdict to more serious offences of assault. In real terms, the degree of fear or the level of injury required for a conviction can be slight. Thus, even the most trivial of injuries can be a battery, whether as a scratch or bruise, so long as the contact can be proved. The distinction between common assault and actual bodily harm (ABH) under s47 Offences Against The Person Act 1861 (OAP), lies in the degree of injury that results. ABH is more than “transitory” but less than “really serious injury” which is the definition of grievous bodily harm under ss18 and 20 OAP Act 1861.

of course we dont know what happened. but most likely someone said something, he squared up... something that happens a million times every day... but as he is 'known' the guy complained... absolutely nothing to it id stake my wages.

"It is believed the incident stems from a long dispute between them"

Only real information the Daily Post adds.

If carra's been arrested, the journos should be in jail, as lies are another form of aggression that they practice every day.

Viva Carraguer cabrones!!
