Does anyone reckon we should try to lure either Laursen or Mellberg from Villa? Both are imho more than decent central defenders, who furthermore are already accustomed to the premier league. They are both out of contract at the end of the season, so they probably wouldn't be too expensive. I know they aren't exactly the youngest (I think both are around 30), but neither is our own Sami! Just a thought anyway.

I think we'd all love Micah Richards here, but he would be WAY to expensive, if the rumours about us not having a lot of money are true. Furthermore all of the other big clubs would probably be after him, which would just make his price go even more up.

My suggestion was meant as a cheap alternative for an experienced premier league and international defender, as we clearly need some back up. Carra and Agger is a more than decent regular central defence pairing in my eyes, and Hyypia is still doing well this season, but as we all know, we could do with a further backup, which COULD perphaps be Laursen or Mellberg (not that we have been linked with either in any way, it's purely a suggestion from my side).

I can suggest two italians for the centre back of Liverpool Fc...if You are looking for an expert player the first name is only one Fabio Cannavaro (Real Madrid Fc), if You are looking for a very younger but stronger the name is Lorenzo De Silvestri (Lazio Fc).

Surprised it hasn't been said, but what about Richard Dunne?

Yesterday's performance was almost certainly his best of the season, but I've seen him a few times recently and he's suddenly really looking like a player. It certainly wasn't a fluke.

He'd be a f*ckload cheaper than Micah Richards, let's put it that way.
