Jokes aside im referring to the good people of this city being rightly aware of the facts-as opposed to the utter tripe that is written about them in the gutter press (one or two examples in particular).

Nah that makes more sense, the people in this city are obviously more aware than anyone of the tabloids ability to wildly lie and create hurtful and damaging headlines.
