I had Ryan Babel so here is what I thought

Performance marking out of 10:    5

This was a good game for Ryan to make his first starting appearance but he went missing for most of the game, his general short passing was good but never really created any chances for the team.  I can only remember one bit of skill on the left but nothing really came of it.  Most of our play went down the right side with pennant having a good game which effected Babel not having much of a say on the left.

Babel was about to get subbed on the 72nd minute but due to Carraghers injury stayed on the field until the 88th minute.

Babel looked promising in the few minutes he played against Villa so hopefully as he gets used to this league I hope to see more from him.

Your views???

is it possible that the fact pennant performed so well kinda outshone babel's contribution? its just an idea. its his first start for this season if im not wrong but ive seen skills and he has fast feet too.

i remember one occasion where he did a flick that was oh-so-similar to robbie fowler's when he scored the goal against brann bergen.

ironically, it was a good thing he wasnt taken off as he had a part to play in the build up to the second goal. it's a vast improvement from mark gonzo and im sure he can only get better.

but overall i shall give him a 6/10. im not sure how many misplaced passes he made and balls he got dispossessed off but i feel we've got a a player who is capable of dribbling by 2 or 3 players on his own. :)

I would have done but Pennant never played. I had my piece of paper and pen at the ready.

For what is worth, once I saw the idea, I clicked the quick reply button just to colaborate as I loved it.

While a started typing though, I realised that it was tough and required a time I don't have. I barely find the time to watch the 90 mins to see all the game this days, so I can't take the time to take a notepad, stop the video when I see a stray pass, do the counting and all that. I preffered not to colaborate if I didn't know if I could fulfill the task. But I bloody liked the idea mate.

Yer, this is a lot harder than it sounds! I didnt fancy taking a pen and paper the match and it was even harder trying to follow what Masch was doing all game, he must have made about 100 passes and 100 tackles/interceptions!  I gave him an 8/10 for match rating though if thats any consellation.
