Agreed.
In the first couple of minutes he made two stray passes but after that his passing and touch was spot on, even under pressure. He looks to be stronger than he was as well.
His cross for the Davies chance was a cracker, he has definately improved an awful lot for his experience in the premiership.
The Bolton fans were singing his name after he went off as well.

I think Rafa will give the lad a chance next season to come in and prove himself. Ok he'll probably be 5th choice but the season is usually long and as Lucas has proved that if you have potential and can wait for your chance then you play. Instead of Rafa buying another player we should get him back because we still need 5 or 6 players in that position.

What if we went with a 4-2-3-1 that looked like
Mascherano Alonso
Lucas Gerrard Guthrie
ok no natural wingers or left footers, but that is the case right now as well. In this system, anyone of the 3 forward midfielders could be anywhere on the pitch at any time. Babel might be better suited and we might buy more quality wingers in the summer, or a second striker (in essence making Rafa pick a new formation), but this is an interesting look for me.

i think babel has to play and if he does will develop into one of the best players in the leauge imo, so i wouldnt go for this...
as much as i would like to see guthrie make it for us i cant see him getting ahead of xabi masch stevie or lucas and i feel selling him for a few million would be a better option

taken from .tv an interview with Emmy Insua:
I INTELLIGENCE
WHO'S THE SMARTEST MEMBER OF THE RESERVE SQUAD?
I don't know about general knowledge but Mikel San Jose is an expert on football, or likes to think he is anyway. He sounds off and we have to listen. Sometimes he's right, sometimes he&'s wrong. But, no matter what, he just keeps talking.
That reminds me of someone. Maybe we should start calling BigMick BigMikel

Hobbs is going down to League One now? That's hardly what I'd call progression...

I see Hammill played well for Blackpool at the weekend. Won a penalty and looked very dangerous.
