Anyone else remember it? I'm sure it was while he was still with us and not after he'd moved to them....?

I remember that one - as soon as it happened he was waiving to the bench shouting "its gone".

Markus Babbel was, in my opinion, one of the the BEST right backs in the world. He came to us and played fantasic in his first season, but then got seriously ill and was never the same again.

The reds really have had some bizzare injuries over the years. From Babbels gullian Barre to the Phil Babb nutcracker, and of course Cisse, the man who can break both legs without being in the same postcode area as an opposition player :bump

Didn't Alan Hansen get that scar down his dome in a game that ended his career?

No he got the scar walking through a plate glass door. He did cut his head badly just before the FA CUP FINAL against Wimbledon in a clash of heads with Gary Gillespie.

Hansen finished playing because his knees, which he had trouble with for years.

It wasn't Jocky who clashed with Gary Gillespie, it was Nigel Spackman..... they did it the week before the Cup Final in a league game against Derby County.....
They both wore daft headbands for the Wimbledon game...!

Cisse's broken leg at Blackburn a couple of seasons back was pretty bad, especially considering they thought he might lose his leg at one stage.

I remember watching it at the time and it seemed so inocuous to me. However my mate said as soon as it happened "he's broken his leg there". The replay didn't make pleasant viewing at all.

Steve Harkness against Aston Villa in 98 at Villa Park. Stan Collmore almost took Harkness' leg off, although Collymore didn't get sent off for that tackle he did get sent off later in the game for pushing Michael Owen in the face. We won 4-2 with Robbie Fowler getting 3
