If you look at the statistics associated with Liverpool´s success in cups (FA, UEFA and European) since 1965 to the end of the greatest phase of British football  @1990, Liverpool´s cup success has been built on our success in the league.

Some say football has changed, I would counter than ManUre are simply not a cup team - neither are Chelsea or Arsenal. But we are, and always have been.

To ensure ongoing success in cup competitions we have to splash the cash to build a team able to win the league. Unlike ManUre, once we get back to that level, the cups will come in on a regular basis and cash to continue the success. Common sense really but for the fact we dont focus on creating that league winning team.
