The difference between home and away - Why ?

I do believe that the difference is on the mental level. Some leaders say that it`s not their job to entertain when playing away ! This means, in my opinion, that the players focus on doing a best possible result, rather than winning when playing away. I always learned in my early years that "attacking is the best defence "! How can one score goals and win when focus is on not loosing ?
What about the big championships?! If the advantage of playing home is so big, why doesn`t the hometeam always win the championship ?
The advantage is exadurated ! If you`re good enough you win anywhere !
