i respect west ham but from a lot of what i personally saw they have two types of fans... those with scars, and those that give out scars.

maybe thats just my little experience tho and the fact i was stuck on a train with thousands of them

yeah... really felt for them... no doubt i was completely overjoyed when stevie scored that screamer!! but if we were to put the boot on the other foot... and to lose in penalties... well.. it'd be a little hard to swallow.

i ended up applauding the TV when they went up to collect their medals...

To be fair though at least their anthem is unique and not some tripe like 'glory glory man utd'

They player really well and they're right to feel gutted, being 2/3 mins away from a cup and then losing it is a hard pill to swallow.

Big respect

Loads of respect for the hammers, really wasn't expecting anything like that from them. In fact i couldn't see how we were going to get the 3rd goal we just didn't look like we were capable. There boss sumed it up by saying " thought we had won it but they were beaten by a special goal from a special player"

lets not go over the top tho guys. dont forget they scored 3 but one was an own goal, one was a fluke and mistake by pepe and one wasnt even a shot. They did run and run tho. never seen players all looking so tired at the end of the game.

i respect them more for the way they played the game rather than the goals they scored.

it was great to see a game played without, diving, time wasting, petty niggles and crowding the ref and all the other cr@p that goes with a certain other London team.

You've got to respect a medium-sized club that year after year has churned out some of the best English talent.  Maureen could learn a lot from their philosophy of playing 'proper football'.  I've had a soft spot for them since they won the FA Cup in the eigthties, and my only complaint about them was when they unfairly sacked Harry Redknapp (although ironically the next season WHU were in the Championship and Harry got Portsmouth promoted to the Premier League).  Their song is rubbish, but they're a good footballing club.

Cheers for the sentiments guys, I was proud of the way West Ham played saturday and thought they would have been deserved winners. Fair play to Liverpool they never gave up and got the result. :(

I'm glad that it was Liverpool we lost to and not Chelsea, Arsenal or Man Utd - I doubt the inclusion of any of those teams in place of either West Ham or Liverpool would have produced a game even half as good.
