I have nothing more positive to say about Liverpool at the moment, other than my usual "Houllier out" which even to me is getting tiresome, so I think I'll start a forum to distract everybody from our current troubles.

If you could wave a magic wand and had a choice of three of our past greats to instantly step into the current team and help them turn things around, who would you guys pick?

My choices are:

1. Kenny Dalglish: would lead from the front, score goals and set up countless more.

2. John Barnes (of 1988 or 1990 vintage): explosive coming in off the left. Would solve our problems with width.

3. Alan Hansen: would shore up our creaking defence and start us plauing from the back again.

I'd love to add Graeme Souness to the above (imagine him and Gerrard in midfield... but I limited myself to three.

going a bit further back..... you cant separate Hansen and Lawrenson at the back, with Souness in the middle. Those three would provide the class and leadership to win us the league. One problem though,Houllier wouldnt have them in the team because of their strong personalities. They wouldnt put up with his s##t either.

The sad thing is that Houllier would never have signed most of the liverpool greats. They wouldnt be his kind of players.

1  KENNY DALGLISH
2 JOHN BARNES
3 PETER BEARDSLEY
Three players who could create a goal out of nothing, something the present lot can't do between them.:p

Thankyou JBG I also am starting to go into over kill re Houlier so A welcome break.

Dalglish-because he's a scot he never got his true accolades.  I saw things in Kenny that were as good a Geordie Best.  If his personality off the pitch had match his ability on it we would be talking one of the greatest.
Rush-Best goal scorer ever.  Played when forwards got the s##t kicked out of them when bruises were regarded as fashionable.
Hansen-I used to sit and marvel at his forward runs he always reminded me of Moses, because when he went forward it was like the red sea open up.

Iwas tempted Souness,Hughes,Keegan,Case and Smith maybe kev should be up their.

JBG not sure now about this thread, now that I'm thinking about the great players the nostalgia I getting angry again.

Its only a bit of nostalgia so as to temporarily forget the current woes.

I'd dig Shanks up and have him sitting on the bench.

Even a pretty dead and decomposed Shanks in a tracksuit proped up against Phil Thompson (ala 'Weekend at Bernies') on the bench would do a hell of a better job that a fully fit Houllier!  :D

LM Kewell

Riise is an arguable case but the other two have been awful for two years. Cheyrou scored twice and suddenly he's someone's hero........ :O
