Its just been on SSN that Hamann is struggleing to be fit for monday after the Essien tackle, and with Momo suspended Stevie may come back into centre if Didi is not fit.
May play Garcia out wide or Pongolle.

this situation is just crying out for a start for ping pong IMO. he's just about the only player capabale of playing in that position who is willing and capable to take people on and beat them. with the comedy duo of central 'defenders' that newcastle have we need crosses coming into the box and causing a bit of mayhem in there. i believe pongo is a clever enough player to know when to fling a ball in from touch or when to get the ball along the ground into difficult areas from deeper or further inside. here could be his big chance to show what he's got.

on top of that, the fact that he looks uncannily like hong kong phooey has a tendency to put opposing players off guard.

Bramble hasn't been that good this year, but everyone who knows boumsong, knows why he has been off form.

Last year he was excellent and shored our backline up and looked like a great signing, but over the summer his wife has fell heavily ill and now his son has fallen ill too just recently and thy live in france and he is on his own in Newcastle,so quite clearly and obviously, this is going to effect his game, when Boumsong and Bramble are on form they can keep anyone out and they have proved that!

Steven Taylor is expected to be back on boxing day too,so hopefully he can bring us something better! :)

Michael Owen feels it will be a strange day for him personally when he returns to Anfield with Newcastle United on Boxing Day but while he would love to score heinsists he has a lot of respect for Rafael Benitez.
Owen is hoping for a good reception from the Liverpool fans but added he will be 100 per cent committed to Newcastle on the day and hopes to score. The former Reds Number 10 said he has respect for Benitez who tried to bring him back to Anfield just before the transfer deadline.

Owen said: "It is bound to be a strange day because of my long association with Liverpool, although the Kop has welcomed back plenty of old boys. I am sure they will understand that I will be 100% committed to the other team.

"Oddly enough, I remember a conversation with Jamie Carragher a while back when we saw a player looking downcast after scoring against his old club. I don't think either of us could understand that and, if I score, I will celebrate as joyfully as I did at West Ham United last Saturday.

"I won't shy away or feel guilty or embarrassed, but nor will I be running over to the Liverpool bench and sticking two fingers up. Why should I? Rafael Benítez was very decent and straightforward when I left for Real Madrid and, in August, he attempted to buy me back. Why should I hold anything against him or anyone else at Anfield?"

Hamann expected to play

The Reds expect to have Dietmar Hamann available to face his former club.

Hamann, who is about to trigger a clause in his contract that gives him another year at Anfield because of the amount of games he has played this season, missed the Club World Championship games in Japan with a knee problem.

But he is responding to treatment and is expected to play in central midfield, with Mohamed Sissoko suspended
