Rafa Benitez expects Liverpool attacker Harry Kewell to make a playing return in a fortnight's time.

Kewell has not played for Liverpool since limping out of the UEFA Champions League final triumph over Milan with a groin injury.

On the comeback trail in pre-season, the Australia international broke down again and required a hernia operation.

The surgery has kept him on the sidelines since mid-July but Reds boss Benitez feels Kewell is close to a return to action.

The 26-year-old is training again and Benitez has pencilled in a reserve team run-out in the next two weeks.

If Kewell comes through that game unscathed, he could then be in contention for a first team comeback against Blackburn Rovers on October 15.

Benitez said: "He is training and playing football now.

"In two weeks he will play for the reserves."

If he can sort out his attitude then he will really help us. It will put some pressure on Riise and Zenden and perhaps we can play him on the right from time to time?

i'm actually looking forward to seeing him, which is strange in itself.

he brings that class unpredictability we need when the opp decides to park the bus in front of the goal like man u today.

BTW that "usa" chanting had me in stitches today.
:D

yes yes, we all wait with anticipation of Harry Kewell returning. Thinking this time, this time, just maybe?
But after a few games back, we will all be saying at half time - GET THAT LAZY T.WAT OFF!

I tell ya the return of an in-form Kewell is about as likely as the French and the  English imalgemating (spelling) into one country !!

But I wouldnt mind Kewell returning to form though (cough).....
