Ironically, Everton's best chances of progression would be if they drew Liverpool or Celtic (I assume that Celtic are in the hat, yes?) in the 3rd round draw, as love 'em or 'ate 'em, Everton would run us close over two derbies......the tie would probably only be 55/45 in our favour. They'd compete with Celtic as well to boot.

Everton's problem would be drawing a decent Eastern European team like Shaktar Doneskt, who are good enough to get a result at Goodison and are occasionally lethal in the Ukraine.

Everton are a well organised bunch, high on hard work and endeavour, but low on class. I could not see them advancing past the group stages and if they found themselves in a group with Barcelona or the likes, there could be a slaughter on the cards.

I'm being objective about that, and I'm not just saying it simply because its Everton we are talking about here. They have had no recent European experience: you have to go back to 1985 when they last made a decent impact on the continent. I think they had one or two campaigns in the early to mid 1990s, but they didn't pull up any trees then.

Of all the top leagues, teams from the Premiership have the most problems in adapting to European competition. Man UTD took a couple of seasons to adapt to the Champions League, Arsenal arguably still haven't, Blackburn had a disasterous CL campaign. You also see loads of premiership big spenders like Middlesboro or Newcastle underperforming in the UEFA Cup.

Everton better pray that they get us, as at least they'd have a fighting chance. Otherwise its the UEFA Cup for them.........probably will be the UEFA Cup in any event.

when i was younger liverpool used to win everything except the grand national...i was the only blue in my class at primary school

you obviously dont come from liverpool then, because according to moyes all liverpool fans come from outside the city, and if you were the only blue that would be almost a whole classfull of reds inside the city limits. no, no, you must be from mars or somewhere.

Maybe you could help with a question thats been bugging me for years m8.

Why do people from Liverpool support Everton?  I can see to reasons

1 Is it like some sort of disease passed down through generations that can't be cured.

2 Do some people just hate themselves and wish for a lifetime of misery.

I ask because if a person grows up in Liverpool and are faced with the choice of who to support choosing Everton over Liverpool would be like choosing to :censored: Fatima Whitbread over Jessica Simpson :D
