How many strikers do we need - Rafa likes 1 up front
Posted: Wed May 04, 2005 12:33 pmAn interesting point was made last night on tv3. When Valentia won the league a couple of seasons ago, the clubs top scorer had 8 goals.
It looks like Rafa likes 1 man up fron to hold the ball and for the support to arrive and score, an extra man in midfield is obviously more defensive too.
Remember france won 1998 wc without any forward scoring.
If Lfc sell Baros we mightn't get another forward. Cisse and Morientes can fight it out for first spot.
I think this could be in Rafa's mind especially as proven forwards are so expensive. We could then strengthen elsewhere.
It mightn't mean boring footie though as I thought Valentia were excellent when they ripped us apart.
