There is no such thing as a relatively injury free season  :D

By the way, LFC managers have generally struggled in the league in their first full seasons, since King Kenny that is :

Graeme Souness 91/92 : 6th with 64 points (18 points off Champions)*
Roy Evans 94/95 : 4th with 74 points (15 points off Champions)*
Gerard Houllier 98/99 : 7th with 54 points (25 off Champions)*
Rafa Benitez 04/05 : 5th with 58 points (37 points off Champions)

*91/92 and 94/95 were 42 game leagues. Houllier's first full season started as joint manager with Evans, 99/00 was slightly better in 4th with 64 points if you feel that will somehow make you feel more at ease, still roughly the same points behind the Champions (24)......................

Point being even managers who have/you can argue finished top four did so and no more. Do people really rate Woy, mr mid-table and Euro Disney final, so highly that they think he'll do better?!? It's essentially going to be the same squad, maybe worse in some people's eyes if Mascherano leaves. If he is so great at getting the best out of the players he has, how come he can get a team to a cup final but can't win away games in a league full of nothing teams?!?!

And I do wish some would knock blind faith on the head, and the old line of "I've been predicting we'll finish top every season since......................" doesn't put you in a good light, just makes people realise how much you lack objectivity

And the Liverpool injury crisis of last season was mainly a myth anyway

Premiership Apps 09/10 (+/- on 08/09 in brackets)

38 REINA (same)
37 CARRAGHER (-1), KUYT (-1)
35 LUCAS (+10)
34 MASCHERANO (+7)
33 GERRARD (+2)
31 Insua (+21)
30 BENAYOUN (-2)
25 JOHNSON (-4), Babel (-2)
24 N'Gog (+11)
23 AGGER (+5)

In CAPS are our 1st choices, I've left LB as 'arguable'. It's interesting Johson played only two less games for us than he did in his last season for pompey. Fair enough Insua wasn't always first choice LB, but who though Aurelio would have an injury free season? 08/09 was a record 24 Premiership apps for Aurelio

Skrtel may be one player many will highlight as injured, but is he 1st choice? Proof of the pudding is how many games in the league we had to field reserves or kids and that wasn't very often. I guess most just look at when Torres was out, if Johnson happened to be out at the same time and Aurelio and Skrtel were out long(er) term then people can dress that up as an injury crisis. We did badly last season because we played badly, not because of injuries. The list above shows we didn't have injuries any more than we did when we finished 2nd so that is just an excuse

7. Martin Kelly, he's going to be a first team regular in the next few years.
8. Poulsen. He'll be a Kop favourite, along with Jova.
9. Gerrard - 25 goals, Torres will suffer more injuries but will score a few.
