Hello from spain:

I Think atletico and liverpool are favourites to get through. Be careful with Aguero, Many of you will uderstand why I said that Aguero is better than Torres, here we know both very well.

Here, aguero is considered one of the best forwards in the world.

(I wish your team and mine get through!!):D

Sorry for my english liverpool fans!

Is it just me or is anybody else fairly confident of getting through this group ? One thing that would worry me is if - nay, when - the other teams study how Standard Liege played against Liverpool. We didn't like the harassment, first to the breaking ball, aerial attack they posed...and if I were an oppsing manager that's exactly how I'd play agaist LFC.
Heard lots about this guy Aguero too. Wonder why Rafa didn't take a look at him when he was drunk enough to spend 20M on Keane.

i don't know if anyone has posted this yet - not as far as i can tell. here's a snippet i've pulled off one of the guardian football blogs about our league games scheduled for after the champions league games.

--

September 16 v Marseille (a) Saturday home to Stoke
October 1 v PSV Eindhoven (h) Saturday away to Man City *
October 22 v Atletico Madrid (a) Sunday away to Chelsea (after they host Roma)
November 4 v Atletico Madrid (h) Saturday evening West Brom (home)
November 26 v Marseille (h) Monday night home to West Ham
December 9 v PSV Eindhoven (a) Saturday home to Hull

* As City are in Europe (Thurs 2nd Oct) the match scheduled for Saturday 4th October will likely be pushed back to the Sunday or even Monday, and could be against a side jaded by being knocked out in the first round proper.

--

a lot less challenging than in previous seasons and will hopefully allow us a certain consistency and momentum in both competitions. the way we are playing at the moment we need every bit of help and good news we can get.

I don't think they would have sold him fro 20 million , they'd be looking closer to 30 and 40 for him , the lads a special kid and it was going to take a huge offer to prise him away from athetico .

Certainly not the best of groups for us, but then again it could have been worse. Atletico was definitely THE WORST team to draw out of pot 4. What makes the particular draw of Altetico even worse of course, is the fact that there were some - on paper - very easy teams in that pot. But on the other hand, I think we were fairly lucky with our draws out of the two other pots. I'm really glad we didn't get italian opposition or Bayern Munich from pot 2, and I'm also quite happy we won't be travelling to far away places like Turkey and Russia this season (it takes a lot of travelling and these teams are often very strong on home turf). All in all without a doubt not the best draw, but still a group we should be able to go through from... that is if we find a bit of form at some point :;):

You guys should go through easily in this group. 3 home wins and a point or two on the road and you´ve done it...

Thats the theory anyway.

A suprise draw at home or even a defeat could see things being made a little more exciting.

Curiously Atleti and Liverpool are the only intercontinental cup winners in the group!!!
