when anelka played for us during that lone spell he was the best player in the side, he outshone owen because he had good close control and had the ability to take men on, a part of the game owen seemed to lose as he got older.
yeah, he`s a risk off the field, but look at the money we`ve wasted on potential.
anelkas way above pongolle and mellor in terms of class, and from what i`ve seen cisse too, if we are going to get back to the top we need top players, not just nice guys who do a job.

we actually need another striker to get the job done on a regular basis.

Anelka can do that. You have to take into consideration that he is playing in a very weak man city team. Only SWP is creating the chances for Anelka.

all the great players are moody dickheads... (maradona, hagi, cantona & now Anelka)

:p

yes but if we sign both of them, what about cisse when he gets back. Their is a chance he will never play again, but what if he does comeback. 6 strikers is alot, and then the brash anelka will come out.

always look on the bright side of life......

if that happens, we can sell anelka for 30 million or Cisse for 14 million.

Anelka on his way back to Liverpool

Reports in France are suggesting that Manchester City are on the verge of losing star striker Nicolas Anelka to Premiership rivals Liverpool.

Former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier had the Frenchman on loan at Anfield but amazingly let the player leave.

Now, new manager Rafa Benitez is attempting to sign the former Arsenal, Real Madrid and PSV striker according to the French press.

Anelka could easily be one of the best strikers in the world should he finally settle at one club and shake of the reputation at being a problem player.

The Manchester City striker is poised to leave Eastlands during the January transfer window, following revelations that he wants to move to a ‘bigger club’.

Although Liverpool are in the hunt for Fernando Morientes of Real Madrid, it is understood that they are ALSO hoping to sign Anelka in a cut-price £5million deal.

The Frenchman has already had a brief stint at Anfield during a loan spell in the Gerard Houllier days, and would relish a move back to Merseyside.

According to the reports in France, Anelka has begun personal talks with the Reds, who are willing to offer him a three-and-a-half year deal.
