I don't think we can only blame Risse for last night, the cross should have been stopped and the clearance just before that should have gone further up the pitch, although I do agree he needs to be sold, when he is scoring screamers every so often his defensive mistakes are forgotten, unfortunately with him being soo left footed he had no choice other than to leave it and hope Anelka missed, if he could use his right foot that ball could have been smashed out over the crossers head for a throw in and the final whistle would have gone, wrong player, wrong time.

Good luck in your fresh start next season JAR!!!!

Riise should have been sold long before now, he was never a good enough defender and spells of form have only ever hidden his weakness temporarily. However in his FOURTH season in charge Rafa hasn't made opportunity to get rid of him, despite us seeing plenty of players at FB in that time.

To strengthen a squad it is usual to get rid of the weakest players, somehow Riise survives when less weak players have come and gone. And I still maintain he didn't need to be on the pitch, with Carra at RB and Hyypia in the centre with Skrtel we'd have seen Arbeloa come off the bench not Riise. Then again Drogba may well have run Hyypia into the ground.

look at how the players responded after the whistle, each and every one of them went to riise and give him a few words or an arm around the shoulder. THAT is the way to look after one of your own, not to diss him like the pathetic idiot who started this thread.

I was gutted for the lad. You could see that the error absolutely killed him, so for so-called fans to lay it on thick calling for his head is just disgraceful.

It was an awkward ball in and he got it wrong. It's that simple. Personally I hope he starts at left back now against Brum as he's the sort of character that will react in the right way - he'll feel he owes the fans, his team-mates and his manager.

and he's rammed the words back down the throat of all those who said he wasn't going to score this season....

Hear ! Hear !

Herewith a call to the mods to bar the muppet who started this thread for a period of, say, two weeks.
May he be paraded through the streets of Liverpool atop a horse, and flogged a hundred times....

There is already an extensive thread about the mertis or not of John Arne Risse, you can find it by clicking here . . .

For the record, Riise trys 100%, but sadly is not good enough.
