Posted: Thu May 18, 2006 3:43 pmInfact, the only other down-to-Earth World class striker I can think of is Shevchenko. He always seems to show a lot of humility, which is probably why he is so widely liked as a player.
He's quite a polemic guy, because he never forgets where he comes from, and the need of many of his countrymates.
Phrases like "I will work like a black man to live like a white man" have been famous in Spain, and quite polemic, as some find this words racist. The guy has a humble, very humble past and I respect him for that, even if some of his words are polemic.
In a team, he's not the best team mate, because he's too ambitious. By too ambitious I mean that he didn't like to enter even in the regular rotations Rijkaard was doing. Even Ronaldinho didn't complain about being subbed in one match to have a rest. Eto'o didn't like this and eventually Rijkaard didn't sit down him.
As a striker he's top class. But unreachable for our pocket.
