Is Kirkland coming towards the end of Rafa's trial period ?

Verdict:
No big howlers, but been close a couple of times !!
Looks steady but not spectacular - Can't think of cert' goals saved by a super save !!
Not bossing the box yet !!
Distribution, bit eratic at times, but good boot upfield for Mellors Goal !!

Will he be kept On ?      Answer: Probably Yes.

What do you think ?   ???    ???

I think kirkland has done reasonably well in goal however now is the time to get dudek back in there as for me kirkland is still learning and at the moment is not ready to be our number one keeper. He is improving however at the moment only looks like an average keeper and his lack of concentration in the monaco game for me is unforgiveable. Has no one ever told him to play to the whistle, if he didin't stand there with his hand glaring at the referee he might have had a chance of saving saviola's goal.

I don't know whether its down to him but whenever kirkland is net we never seem to keep clean sheets!!

I think Kirkland is doing very well, he has had a couple of very spectacular saves, one that springs to mind was recently against Monaco in the CL, he saved a close range volley to his bottom left corner.

Anyway, what you have to remember is, when Kirkland has let in most of the goals our defence has been playing poorly. A 'keeper playing behind a poor defence is very vunerable.

Dudek had a brilliant game last night. Robinson looks more likely for the England slot than Kirky !

I think he's done OK. Worth 7 million or whatever Foullier paid for him years back? Probably not. Just a good solid keeper at the mo', no more no less. Stll a better bet than Dudek in my view tho' despite last nights brilliant performance from Jerzy.

Ah yes but what he does have in abundance is bravery. He is prepared to put his body, face everything in the way to stop a goal.

The defence also trust him a lot more than they do Jerzy, and that means he is first chice all day.

Robinson is making a strong bid to retain the Nr1 slot, he was bossing the England box big style in the Spain game. Very confident, saving a penalty and all. He shows a lot more confidence than Kirkland.
kirky still has time, but he probably needs a season between the Red's sticks, with no howlers, before he really looks the part.

Kirkland looks pretty solid to me. What he's given me is a bit of reassurance whenever the ball comes into the box, as for a while I was always half-expecting Dudek to spill a cross or fluff a punch.

Fair play to Jerzy for getting his form together, but for now I'd stick with Kirkland for Prem and CL games. Dudek should definitely keep his place in the Carling Cup games though - trotting out at Cardiff would be a nice little confidence booster for him.

I think he's done ok
He's made one or two mistakes (most keepers do) - he's made 1 or 2 outstanding saves - agree - think he's still learing - but definitely think he is much braver than Dudek - get's whatever he needs to in front to block the ball - even his own defenders try and take him out at times
:D

He is only average at best. Looked clumsy and indecisive occasionally. He still need to learn how to come out of the box.

If he stays fit for the rest of the season he will become first class.
