Well this season we should always look forward so lets look to maccabi haifa game and what we could get out of that in appose to back at what we should have done at Sheffield.

Leg 1 2-1 at anfield isnt a very good result as it means if haifa nick a 1-0 were out. Definetly no Carragher and possibly no riise so our defense will be without two of the fantastic 4 which was great for us last season.

My team for the game

Reina

Finnan
Hyypia
Paletta/Agger
Warnock

Sissoko
Pennant
Alonso
Gerrard
Gonzales

Kuyt/ Bellamy

2-0 Reds Come on LIVERPOOL !!!!!!!

Kuyt isn't going to play as he's ineligible for the Haifa game.  Fowler or Crouch will therefore start alongside Bellamy I'm thinking.

Very important game this is, 10m quid is at stake! Rafa won't risk it an will field his strongest eleven. We will see Alonso back to the line up.

Not cup tied, just that he wasnt here when we registered the squad for the qualifiers before the first leg

thinking too negatively there Richard ! i think we should go out there, try to score an early goal... that'll get them all worked up and we'll probably ease through from there ! my starting 11 would be:

Gk.. Reina

LB:Aurelio
RB:Finnan
CB:Agger
CB:Hyypia

LM: Gonzales
RM:Gerrard/ pennant
CM:Alonso
CM:Sissoko

SS:Garcia/ gerrard
CF:Crouch

would like to go for Garcia in the starting 11 but with crouch likely to start, i think everyone would be tempted to start pennant along with !

This game has already cost us 2 points so unlike today i cant see anything but our strongest line-up.

Question is are we stronger with Gerrard playing centre or out wide

Reina

Aurelio
Agger
Hyppia
Finnin

Pennent
Alonso
Gerrard
Gonzalez

Crouch
Bellamy

Riise is doubtful but if fit then replaces Aurelio at LB

I can see Rafa playing a 4-5-1 as he likes to ensure we cotnrol the midfield when we play away from home........especially when £10mill is at stake and CL qualification.

this is a massive game no doubt about it...the fact that this game is not in israel is a hugh bonus for us...make no mistake had this game been in haifa it really would have been tricky... playing outside israel really will suit liverpool...  score    maccabi haifa 0  liverpool 2  :;):

I don't remeber much of the first leg but I do believe we controlled the midfield pretty well.  So why hold back??  Try playing 4 midfielders to start the match then at half if it isn't working go back to the 4 5 1.  I just don't want them to get a cheap goal.  2 strikers would more than assure us getting the majority of the attacking opportunities and give reina a fairly easy day as well hopefully.

Reina
Finnan      Hyypia      Agger    Aurelio

          Sissoko         Alonso

Pennant                                Gonzales/Zenden
                   Garcia
                    Crouch

I know I have left Gerrard out, but this is the team I think Rafa will play, injuries etc allowing.
