Crazy Horse!!
It has been confirmed that former Liverpool and England captain Emlyn Hughes is being treated for brain cancer and faces months of chemotherapy treatment. Hughes underwent surgery in Sheffield last year to remove a brain tumour, so this will come as a further blow to all.

Hughes' former team-mate Brian Hall said:

"The tumour is in his brain and he has had chemotherapy, which is working well. Emlyn is in good spirits, he was a battler on the pitch and now he is facing a battle of a different kind."
"He is giving this everything he has got and has a strong family behind him. He is a very popular character and was a great player for Liverpool and everybody at the club wishes him well."

Emlyn 'Crazy Horse' Hughes is an Anfield legend in every sense of the word. He was signed by Shankly for £65k in 1967 and went on to play 650 games for the Reds. He was the first Liverpool player ever to hold aloft the European Cup when he captained Liverpool to glory against Borrussia Moenchengladbach in Rome in 1977.

His honours include:

1st Division Championship: 1972/73, 1975/76, 1976/77 & 1978/79
FA Cup: 1974
European Cup: 1977 & 1978
UEFA Cup: 1973 & 1976
Charity Shield: 1974, 1976 & 1977 (shared)
European Super Cup: 1977
Football Writers Palyer of the Year: 1977

Hughes was also was awarded the OBE in 1980.

Lets hope that all goes well for Emlyn and his family over the coming months.
