Baros stays.........

Maybe put in the rumors thread, but does this face look worried?
I'm not too sure about this move, I like the guys pace and attacking style against defenders, but he loves to hold onto the ball too much, and also Mori and Cisse combo is too much for Baros to compete against. Maybe he's worth too much to the club to give away cheaply, ala Diouf. Who knows. He might leave in the Jan window.

Baros to stay with Reds
by Vasek Kadlec

Milan Baros is expected to stay at Liverpool despite being strongly linked with a move away from Anfield.

The Czech striker's future has been the subject of intense speculation in recent weeks with Lyon and Valencia both lining up moves for the player.

Lyon boss Gerard Houllier has admitted he would be interested in linking up with Baros again having signed him while he was in charge at Liverpool.

Baros has also previously suggested that he might leave Liverpool because he was frustrated at being constantly substituted.

However, one of Baros' agents Dalibor Lacina revealed the striker is now set to remain at Liverpool.

"Milan is now on holidays in Czech Republic and he doesn't think it would be good to leave Liverpool now," Lacina told Idnes.

"At Liverpool there is still a lot of euphoria after that unexpected Champions League triumph, and also the club has been awarded a place in next season's Champions League.

"So Baros prefers to stay at Liverpool these days.

"There are many calls from the Lyon representatives to our agency, but as I hinted that meeting would have been good for nothing at present.

"And also Milan is not under pressure to make a transfer as he still has one year certainly at Liverpool and as I know he wants to fight for his place in the squad."

Lacina also ruled out the possibility of a move to Valencia because of the change of management at La Mestalla.

"Valencia have changed the management, they also have a new coach," added Lacina.

"Anyway Baros is very expensive for them to buy so they have started searching for new players for somewhere else."

Good News if you ask me. But I can't expect him wanting to sit on the bench behind cisse and moro. I think he is a good player he has pace, likes to beat defenders and despite what people say he does has his off days and i know he only scored 13 goals but where would we have been without them. I think he is a good asset to the team.

But the question is does this end our hopes of signing another striker because we will have pongo moro cisse and baros and all of them like to play. I know iv missed off mellor but i don't think he is up to premiership standard.

Worst news I've heard all week.

He only has one year on his contract and if he doesn't extend his contract[which I doubt he will] if anybody comes knocking next season for him he will be able to leave for free and once again we will be making no profit.

Sell him now while we can.

It might be a struggle to sell the lad. The 7/8 mill being bandied about is a lot more than we could expect to get with just a year left on his contract. Plus no-one seems to be interested. Lyon & Valencia are the only ones to express any kind of interest. I would rather the club dropped his price and sold him before the season starts. He won't be worth squat if we sell him in January.

I think Rafa wantedd Crouch to partner baros, as the Koller/baros partnership is great a big target man, and morinetes/Cisse partnership i may be wrong but it would make sense.
baros for czech republic world class, baros for Liverpool average.

So what happens if Baros stays?
Lets suppose Cisse/Nando/new striker start banging in the goals and he's left on the bench?
Spitting his dummy out, slagging off Rafa........oh dear. :no

Bad news . Failure to raise money from the sale of Baros could have a knock on effect on how the board may view offers for Gerrard.

:(

Bad news. He is not good enough to play all the time and he just whines. We need to either sell him now or put him on a new contract, and I'm not sure it will be worth it to raise his wages.
This is a pisstake, he will just leave on a free to barca or whoever next season, he probably knows he is more likely to move there if he is free.

Man, I have to say that I am a bit disappointed about the possibility of him staying. And I like the guy and everything!!! With all the talk about him leaving for the past few months, I just assumed that he was and took it as that. Was getting all excited about the possibility of signing a new striker to replace him, and now...nothing. Big let down. In truth, I rate him...but he just doesn't cut it here. Not for our style and what we have. I don't see him devolping much of a partnership with anyone either. I agree with whoever said if he stays, then that we should offer him an extension perhaps. I didn't know he only had a year left on his deal. 7-8 million?? What the :censored: were they thinking in the first place?? Owen left for 8 last year in the same situation, and he's proven quality everywhere. Anyway, he might have a better season next year and World Cup (don't know the czechs situation totally with that as i dont follow them, if they will qualify or what not), then we can sell him for some reasonable scratch if need be. Right now, it looks as if he's not worth much and clubs would rather wait him out to sign him on a free if possible.

I didnt realise he only had a year left on his deal. No talk of an offer to extend it either. To be honest £7m is a big ask for a guy with 1 year left because in January he can sign a pre contract elswhere and they take him for nothing. Baros gets the fee in wages. To have a chance of getting money for Baros they must drop the fee, even then he may choose to sit it out. Stuff all we can do.

Doesn't matter if Baros wants to stay, if Benitez doesn't want him here then he'll be leaving.
