we have had 8 losses in the league, in four of them carroll wasnt in the starting XI ( stoke away, united away, arsenal home, sunderland away)
the four defeats he started in were - spurs away ( we had 2 men sent off), fulham away (team doing okay until spearing sent off), man city away (as i said in a previous post he was in a team away at the league leaders with no suarez, gerrard or bellamy in the starting XI) and bolton away (terrible performance by the team but carroll had an okay game himself, one of 2 players that left the game with any credit (the other was bellamy))
as for the infamous draws - sunderland home - he started, norwich home - on bench, swansea home - in side, wigan away - on bench, blackburn home - in side, stoke home - on bench.
he only started in half those drawn games.
people are blaming carroll for our poor results but he was on the bench for half of them, and as for the four losses he was involved in, in 2 of the games liverpool players were sent off.
Excellent post. I'm not Andy's biggest fan but he is a key reason we are going back to Wembley. He made Evra look useless when he flicked on a 70 yard punt for Pepe for Dirk to score and some of the haters and especially the renamed Kerry (D-C).Yes he's got limitations but he has also got the ability to cause defenders considerable trouble should back off.It is up to the team to use him and provide a decent supply line which has not been the case with Downing and Henderson but I'm sure it will get better.
is one of his limitations an inability to sprint?
is another one an inability to read the game?
how about his inability to be in the right place at the right time?
or the inability to head a goal?
or strike a goal for that matter?
It's beyond me why people stick up for a striker who will be gone in the summer, he has not worked out for us, probably because we play a different style to the barcodes, but in any case Carroll is a terrible striker and nothing I have seen of him has convinced me otherwise. I mean hand on heart who wouldn't rather have had Crouch in our starting line-up yesterday?
I've said before that i wish the best for Andy and i would love to be proved wrong but he needs to learn the basics of how to play as a striker or at least be reminded, would have thought Kenny could give him some pointers.
