The lad will soon show why we parted with big money for him, yesterday he looked in complete control of our defense ,haven't seen a defender this composed in our back line  since Agger.  Class act !

It's still early times, but I like him. He has the presence that Matip and Levron doesnt have. Often times as a leader it is not so much about skills, it is about presence. He is also not afraid to speak his mind during interviews...

Agreed RBG. You could see his presence against Spurs last week. Clear as day he's mustard for me

Our defence looks a lot more solid with this guy at the helm. Good solid defending, reading of the game, organising etc and can pass sharply as well.

Good stuff

The guy just oozes class, so composed when defending and in possession of the ball, he makes everyone around him better, you can see why Klopp was so insistent on getting him.

Prone to the odd lapse in concentration though. Had at least one, maybe two last night in the 6 yard box.

Yes but we went from a 2/10 defense to a 6/10. Add a decent goalie and midfielder and we will be a 8/10 defense, probably good enough to win the title.

Hyppia, Henchoz and Carrager all made mistakes. I saw Carrager score two own goals against ManUre and arguably he could be considered a club legend.

Van Dyke does look quality though  :nod

We look a lot more competent outfit at the back with the big man in the middle ,in fact selling that Sh*t house rat was more progressive in terms of the future than some fans are willing to admit.

I'm not downplaying the impact VVD has had (as I've already said he looks top drawer) but I feel the competence at the back can also be attributed to the fact that we now have 3 engines in midfield all willing to do a job. Coutinho was/is class but him in a 3 maybe unbalanced the side. Similar to the problem them up the road are experiencing with Pogba.

I love watching VVD player for us.

The way he controls the box, tells Karius what to do and goes f**king mental when the likes of Lovern drop a clanger.

He's commanding centre back in every sense and the first genuine replacement we've had for Hyypia.

I wonder what his wage currently is, having been a record signing. More than 100k/week anyone?
