Andy Carroll signs for West Ham

The Premiership - General Discussion

Let's just hope the club never does anything so stupid with £35m ever again. And I don't blame Andy in anyway for our downright stupidity.

Good luck in the future Andy but not against us. Just shove as many goals as you possibly can past Newcastle and hopefully next season they will be relegated.Ok maybe just a bit of sour grapes...............

He's in the Kevin Davies league of strikers but getting special hype because of who he plays for and the shirt number he wears. He will get goals, of course, because strikers like him do in our league: he's very strong in the air, he'll also get knock downs for others to work off, and he's also got a bit of "ersehole" about him which all top sides need. But he is not this wonderful talent that people make out to be. His touch is heavy, he's not quick or agile, and he has no real craft to his play, and isn't marked out by the kinds of abilities that set a top class player apart from burly target men like him. "Ah, but he's got a good left foot, look at the gopal scored against us", I hear you say. He has a "good" left foot, and in terms of that goal: we (i.e. Lucas) let him have all the time in the world to take aim and get his big lanky left foot behind it. He woudn't normally get that time, and doesn't have the ability to make it for himself. He isn't remotely close to the level of Drogba (some have said he could be his replacement), plus if you add in all of the off-the-field issue, for the likely cost he is not a risk worth taking.

Sh.it I wish we had listened to LFC20007 !!!

The question by the way was: Would you buy Andy Carroll in the January 2011 transfer window.

Good luck to him - was in a losing battle as soon as the fee was decided. Buying him for his correct worth might have ended up with a different ending. Did well to get a decent price

Liverpool Football Club have confirmed that Andy Carroll has completed a permanent transfer to West Ham United.

The striker spent the duration of the 2012-13 campaign on loan with the Hammers, scoring seven goals in 24 appearances.

Carroll joined Liverpool from Newcastle United on transfer deadline day in January 2011.

In total, he played 58 games for the Reds and scored 11 times.

Everybody at Liverpool FC would like to wish Andy all the best for the future.

All the best Andy at W.Ham and hope you can deliver goals for them except of course when you play against Liverpool. Sorry that things didn't work out well for you at Liverpool.

Good luck to him, he was unlucky to come to us with such a massive price tag at a time of on going changes within the club.

His signing has to be the biggest balls up Liverpool F.C. has ever made in the transfer market and there's been a few of them down the years.

Liverpool definitely have learnt their lesson from this debacle. Look at the transfers we're doing now, they don't overpay for their targets. Dalglish was still living in the 80s where English clubs only bought  locals and the furthest they would buy from would be from Scotland and almost never bought players from abroad even though the foreign talent was cheap and of Messi's standards. So I am glad that BR is looking to the continent for better and definitely cheaper players. If Aspas had been British and playing for a PL side and because it's Liverpool who are interested I am sure the club would jack up his price tag to at least 20M.

Best of luck to Andy Carroll... I was critical of him but being priced at 35 million was not his fault... I believe he is at the right club for him now...

red focus - thats a bit of an urban myth about dalglish that mate, half the players that came to the club whilst he was in charge were foreign (suarez, enrique, coates, doni etc).
