The writting was on the wall, when Carson and Reina where brought in.
Lets not remember the errors from the Pole but the heroics of Istanbul.
Thanx for everything Jerzy your down in the Liverpool folklore now as a Legend.
YNWA Jerzy and good luck for the rest of your future.

Dudek considers leaving Liverpool

Dudek's career statistics
Liverpool goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek says he will look for a new club in the transfer window if he does not regain his place from Jose Reina at Anfield.
The Polish international, 32, said: "I need to play ahead of the World Cup as to miss out would be disastrous.

"I need to speak to Rafa Benitez about my future and maybe look for something in the January window.

"It all depends on him. If he gives me a chance I will take it. I have a lot of desire to fight for my place."

Dudek performed heroics in the 2005 Champions League final penalty shoot-out to help Liverpool beat AC Milan, but has had to make do with being second choice since.

Reds boss Benitez signed Reina from Villarreal for £6m in July, and he has been an ever-present in the Premiership this season.

Dudek has recovered from the arm injury he sustained in the summer and said: "Now I am fit I will do everything to get my place back.

"It is very frustrating when you can't play in front of the Kop having won the Champions League but I have been concentrating so far on getting fit and then fighting for my place.

"It is difficult ahead of the World Cup if you are not playing and especially in my position.

"The national coach has told me that if I do not play for Liverpool then it will be tough for me to play for the national team."
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

He's gone it seems and will go with our best wishes I'm sure. I don't know if Rafa does sentiment or not but it would certainly be a lovely touch if he stuck Jerzy on the bench for our next few home games in the Prem.If we manage to get a couple of goals infront with 10 minutes to go it would be a lovely touch to bring the Polak on for an Anfield farewell. Like Grobelaar before him, his penalty shoot-out antics are down in the folklore of the club. Also his save from the Shevchenko free-kick while we were 3-0 down was out of the very top drawer and made the comeback at least slightly possible.
I actually thought in his first season here he was the best goalkeeper we have ever had, absolutely brilliant. Such a shame that one dodgy spell seemed to erode his confidence and plant forever the demons which though lying dormant for the majority of the time, were prone to surface at the most inopportune moments. Good luck to the fella though, hope he goes to the World Cup and doesn't play too well when they play us (which lets face it, they always do).

I wonder whether we'll consider loaning him out, so as to keep his world cup hopes alive

He was linked in the n@ws Of the w@rld with a move to Benfica as part of the Simao deal.
I dont think we would loan him out with CK already on loan, and due to Jerzy's age.
The first season he was one of the best about and looked like he would be our keeper for a long time, but the mistakes did ruin his confidence.
I think every fan will wish him all the best wherever he goes and will always remember the Dudek that won the European cup for us...and not the mistakes.

There is no room for sentiment in football. The lad was not good enough, but I will never forget what happened that night.

I hear he will form part of the Simao deal, going to Benfica as a makeweight in that deal.

Good luck, but in all honesty good riddance.

One dodgy spell?? Mick I thought he was dodgy in every game. Any crosses that came his way he seemed to flap and this seemed to make our defenders nervous. He was a good shot stopper (except to his near post), but did not seem big or aggressive enough to be a good keeper in the premiership.

He was loyal to the club and has done well to get to where he has got (considering he worked in a coal mine). I wish him all the best and in time all that will be remembered will be the performance in the penalties rather that the flapped at crosses. He was still an average keeper for us though.

He was definitley a class keeper in first 2 seasons with us, possibly the best in the premiership along side Cudicini at that time. Really is a shame how things turned out for him after such a bright start, i hoped it was just one brief period of mistakes he was making and that he would of got back to his best again for us, but it seemed he never recovered from that and made some costly mistakes on a too frequent basis. But as with all players that leave Liverpool i hope he does well in the future.

he is a class keeper in the first few season...but thing started to go downward...i can't see RB dropping Reina...this is the problem for having too much international keeper...but o well...Good luck in the future...

you got that right. he really made me nervous in every single game including the CL final.
But, to his greatest credit, he did won us the CL. Come on, we all know that.
Adios jerzy. You'll definitely will never walk alone.

On the money.

The fact is though we now have a better keeper. Time to move onward and upward. :)

I'd go along with that, definately. I think we may have been japped a bit on the price we paid but I quite like Reina. I know next to nothing about the technicalities of goalkeepers and goalkeeping but some, especially the very best ones just give you a feeling of security. Reina does look a bit dodgy at times from crosses but doesn't seem to get punished for it, whereas he always seems to get something in the way of shots. Based on absolutely nothing whatsoever that I can put my finger on, I think he'll turn out to be pretty good.

thanks and good luck dudek

but as said above itd be great if (even at the weekend against pompey) we could bring him on and give him a crackin send off, as dodgy as he may of been in the past he played a pivotal role for us in winning the final
