After 29 LONG years, this is finally our season

We'll have a better idea tonight if 2018/19 might be our season.
Palace are good at home (they put 5 past Leicester, beat Chelsea and should have beaten City as well last season, missing a last minute pen to win), they have a tight ground, probably the best home fans in the division and with Hodgson, Benteke, Sakho and Kelly there they have a strong ex-Liverpool contingent who would love nothing more than to bring us down a peg or two.
Outside of the top 6 I'd say this is our toughest fixture of the season, this is on par with Everton away imo.
When Zaha started they didn't lose a game at home all season (and he starts tonight). It's a night game as well so the atmosphere will be even more hostile than normal. Make no mistake we will need to bring our A game tonight if we want to leave there with 3 points.

I would have felt more confident if we got Fekir or another AM.

I think we will challenge this season, to play against Palace at their own turf (super strong team and difficult at their ground) and get 3 points with a clean sheet is a testament of our massive improvement.

Top of the league after 3 games and I hope we push on strongly into September as we have some season defining games coming up.

C'mon lads lets start to show some belief, yeah?  :suspect:
"LIVERPOOL: 6 European Cups, 19 Domestic Titles, 3 UEFA Cups, 8 FA Cups, 9 League Cups and 4 European Super Cups and 1 Club World Championship

All other English clubs pale into insignificance!"

I think we have a good chance. Stronger squad than spurs and Manure in tormoil, Chelsea may do their every second season trick (but lack centre forward). City are obviously the team to beat but if kompany isn’t at his best then we have a chance. It is unsportsmanlike to wish an injury on their goalie ?

Other then Man City, I think Chelsea will be the other team to give us most to think about.
They have a strong line up with Hazard, Willian, Kovacic, Pedro, Kante, Jorghino etc and they have played very well thus far. I think it will be between us and those two, and that will be the top three.

I can't see Man Utd and Spurs finishing higher than us.

After what I've seen thus far,Top Six I reckon will be :

1.LFC/Man City

3. Chelsea
4. Spurs
5. Man Utd
6. Arsenal

Also for us to lift the title, it's crucial that we take points off the top four sides also when we play them, starting with Spurs.

Yeah that is an impressive result, no matter how bad United are playing to go there and win 3-0 takes a bit of doing, in our last 14 visits to Old Trafford in the league we have won 2, drawn 1 and lost 11 so fair dues to Spurs.

The below shows the history of the PL since it became a 38 game season, our points total, our league finish, and the points total of the PL winners. Apart from on 2 occasions, it has taken 86+ points to win the league in the last 15 years. Last season we got 75 points. Man City broke all records last year and got 100 points. So how many points is it going to take to win the league and how realistic is it that we can hit that target? I personally think that 85 points is a fairly ambitious target for us and I don't see Man City ending up with 15 points less than last season.

I can see Man City finishing up with 15 points less, City are a very good team with a proven manager but last season they had teams running scared, many sides had lost the game before they went out onto the pitch and I reckon they will find it a lot harder this year, they have also lost KDB for 3 months and Sane seems to be suffering from not being picked for the WC, they were two of their outstanding players last season, also Silva is not getting any younger. I am not saying they will fall apart like Chelsea and Leicester did after they won the league but they will find it a lot more difficult this season and they wont get near the 100 points

Based on the  above then, we will need to get at least 90 points to win the title, as I think Man City will get at least 90 points.
The only thing about last season is that we drew lots of games, if we can convert most of them into wins then we should be OK.

If  this season for example ,we get say:
28 wins
7 draws
3 Losses

That is 91 Points. Is it enough to win the league?  maybe/maybe not, But I think we will go very close, and also I think it will get us at least second spot.
i don't think we can afford LESS than 28 wins, if we are to try and win the league.
So let's see how it pans out...

5 from 5 and we still aren’t even playing to our actual potential.

Great start to the season!!!
