Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I think Man City will win it. Not as comfortably as last year but I see them getting 90+ points and winning it with games to spare. An ambitious target for us? 85+ points and a run in the Champions League. Keita will help us break down sides we drew against last year but we needed more really. I still expect to see progress but not enough to seriously challenge Man City unless they have an injury crisis.

8 wins and 3 draws from our first 11 games, which included trips to Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and a home game against Man City. Sure we have left ourselves some work to do to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League, but just maybe some people are getting unnecessarily hysterical.

Thats true mate but it also disguises the fact the front 3 haven't clicked all season. Something's changed, instead of starting with massive confidence off the mega class of last season, they've lost their confidence in front of goal. WTF?

City look unstoppable at present. They are playing like Barca when Pep was there. Wonderful technical players like both Silva's, they have pace on both wings and both
are great with the ball at their feet, a striker that is as prolific as any striker in the world.. then you have one of the best keepers in the world and a rock solid defence.

Oh and I forgot probably their most important player in Fernandinho.

I think we should have really gone for it at Anfield against these.. i can't see anyone else taking points off of them.

Exactly. I said before that beating City at home, or at least Chelsea away (or Arsenal) is a must. A draw against either of these teams is never a bad result, but in the long run, not beating at least one of these will probably cost us the title :(

Whether we can finish 1st all depends on consistency, first few games will tell us a lot, so I'll be happy with second and finishing above Man Utd.

Plus another good run in the Champions league. As long as we don't bump into Man City again on route, we could well go all the way.

I agree with the amount we've spent we really have set the bar high this season.

I would love to see us get a trophy.

Yes lads we spent a few quad in the summer but the stark reality is that over the last three years Everton have actually spent more than us on a net basis. What we have spent compared to City,United and Chelsea during that period is considerably less. And let’s face it three years ago those three teams had far better squads than Liverpool to build on. The owners have for the first time in many years actually demonstrated that they are committed to the success of Liverpool FC. Is it too little too late. City look a country mile ahead of us in terms of squad strength and quality of play and anybody that thinks differently is deluded.

Net Spend Over The Last Three Years:
Liverpool £107m
Everton £138m
Arsenal £143m
Spurs £28m
Chelsea £228m
Man City £373m !!!!!!
Man United £268m !!!

Interesting article on the corruption levels of City and pretty much what we are up against:

http://www.espn.com.au/soccer/club/manchester-city/382/blog/post/3694932/manchester-city-reputation-harmed-by-football-leaks-financial-fair-play-breaches

If I was Henry or Werner, I would be doing everything possible to bring this scandal to light, as these scumbags deserve to be severely penalised for the way they are cheating financially to buy titles.  :no
"LIVERPOOL: 6 European Cups, 19 Domestic Titles, 3 UEFA Cups, 8 FA Cups, 9 League Cups and 4 European Super Cups and 1 Club World Championship

All other English clubs pale into insignificance!"

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man United, Chelsea, PSG and Bayern have all sailed very close to the wind financially for many years. The so-called police are incapable of effectively controlling the behaviour of clubs that have massive financial backing.Allegations of corruption are never far away from these individuals.
