The only thing I can say is what a turnaround on behalf of the club. Last week the chap couldn't even make the squad, In fact going by reports he wasn't even training with the team and the club had agreed to let him leave but now after a good game against arsenal we change our minds

Agree 100%. A very odd and inconsistent approach. If they didn't want to get rid then why in heaven's name did they encourage the player to talk to Beskitas? Kind of thing that makes us look unprepared for the reality of top 4 football: the squad requirements should have been finalised one week after the end of last season.

I think they make it up as they go along  :nod  When we signed gomez the talk was of one for the future and that he would more than likely go straight out on loan but F-FWD a few weeks and he is starting at LB.

To be honest I don't see a lot wrong in that. I believe it was Lucas who wanted to leave, rightly so I suppose because he wasn't given the game time he wanted. Judging by Rodgers recent comments, I don't think he wanted the Brazilian gone in the first place, but he doesn't see him as a regular starter either but more of a tactical addition in certain games. Because of this, Lucas wanted to leave but I guess they reached some common ground at the end, rather than the club making a turnaround.

Re Joe Gomez, like Rodgers stated himself, the original plan was to send him on loan, but he impressed so much during pre-season that they decided to keep him. Not a lot wrong in that either.

He will be booking it again in January  :nod
Don't think Rodgers rates him and he certainly wasn't involved in his plans for this season so as soon as hendo and allen are fit again he will be shunned. If hendo hadn't picked up that injury when he did lucas would have been in Turkey now and we'd probably play Rossiter against Manure to fill the gap.

Was immense today. He’s worked his way into the first team of every manager he’s played under and every time he gets a run of games together to get his form and fitness he becomes one of our most effective players.

Agree 100%, it always takes him 5 or 6 games to get up to speed but once he's found his rhythm he tends to play really well, the problem is whenever he is flying high and at the top of his game he always seems to kop for an injury which sends him back to square 1 again.

Criminally underrated by some of our fans, do they not see the work that he does or they think it's not important? Broke up play at least a dozen times today, and his tackling is always smart, half the tackles he makes usually create a counter attack for us. Not to mention his positional play and the way he pressures the opposition and forces mistakes.

Though I guess I can understand the critics, it's difficult to convince people that a player has been great defensively when you've conceded two goals and almost dropped points.

If the new manager decides we need a new captain, given his recent displays it would be fully deserved if he gave it to Lucas.

I'm OK with the current captain (considering the rest of the team), but Lucas should at least be named vice-captain.

On time served to the club, sure, but if I was looking for inspiration amongst the playing ranks, it would be Sakho.

Til the end of the season: Henderson and Lucas.  Thereafter...... who knows.
