He's been unlucky with injuries the last couple of seasons and has struggled to regain his form but it does have to be said a fit and firing on all cylinders Jose Enrique is still probably the best left back at the club.

He was a super player when he first arrived, one of the best LB's in the country. I wish him well, he always gave his best, even when he played sh!te he played it well.

Always rated him but due to his injury woes over the past few seasons I don't think he's the same player unfortunately.

Great fullback but I don't think Brendan ever rated him to begin with, even before the injury. To be honest though, Enrique isn't faultless either. I think he took more time taking pics on instagram rather than concentrating on getting back to fitness.

Enrique: "I will not give up. I am perfect after 2 years with knee discomfort. LFC has only one pure left back and I know that if I stay I'lll play."

That's good to hear, when we moved to a back 3 last season his days looked numbered but now we have reverted back to a 4 he's right to want to stick around. It wasn't that long ago that Skrtel's career here seemed to be over after 2 disastrous performances against Oldham and Southampton but now he's an ever present.
If Enrique can get back to his best form he's got a hell of a chance of doing the same, when he's firing on all cylinders he's the best LB at the club, certainly defensively.
Moreno and Gomez are top prospects but positionally they are still a bit suspect and you just feel that they've both got a mistake in them.

Big mistake getting rid of him. A decent squad player at worse

Before his injury he was a key member of the squad, but after more than 12 months out he has never looked the same. I'm happy for im to stay and fight for his place, especially if the rumours of Moreno going are true...

I'm not so sure about this tbh, okay Enrique definately went backwards after his injury but at least he is an experienced LB.
If he goes we are left with Moreno and Gomez. Gomez is a good prospect and he is in the side now but a player of his age is going to go through plenty of peaks and troughs before he is the finished article. Just like Sterling/Ibe/Wisdom/Kelly etc and practically every other young player on the planet he will soon hit a patch where he won't be able to do anything right.
Moreno is still learning the positional side of the game himself.
Once Enrique goes our most experienced LB will be a 21/22 year old. Potentially a big call from Brendan.

But.... Birmingham Mail now reporting he may be on his way to Sunderland

Jose Enrique's future remains uncertain. Move to West Brom is not happening.  James Pearce

And Enrique to Sunderland ‘unlikely’, say Sky Sports News HQ

Looks like Enrique is staying put, Ilori on the hand other hand is rumored to be going on loan to Villa for a season with an option to buy with a loan fee of 1 million

Is he staying ?.
If he is it will only be till january because its his last year and it looks like he is holding out for a bosman. The club wouldn't let suso do it and let him go 6 months early just to avoid paying him a wage, The same will happen with enrique imo.
