Said that myself when we signed him but most never seen it as a problem because of his price tag. £4.5 million quid wasted imo considering what we got out of him.

Rickie Lambert has completed a £3million move from Liverpool to West Bromwich Albion.

Lambert has departed his boyhood club a little more than 12 months after his surprise arrival from Southampton for £4.5m.

The 33-year-old accepted his days at Anfield were numbered after Brendan Rodgers chose to overhaul his strikeforce in response to last season’s disappointing Premier League showing.

Christian Benteke, Danny Ings and Divock Origi have all arrived this summer for a combined fee approaching £50m to join Daniel Sturridge in competing for a place in the Reds’ forward line.

And Lambert, along with Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini, have been deemed surplus to requirements.

Lambert realised a dream when he signed for Liverpool some 17 years after he was released as a trainee.

However, he endured a frustrating campaign and found his opportunities limited. He scored three goals in 36 appearances but made just 12 starts.

West Brom boss Tony Pulis has spoken of his delight at Lambert’s impending move to the Baggies.

“I think it is very important we get players who score goals and Rickie has a great goalscoring record,” Pulis said.

“From what I can gather from people at Liverpool, his fitness levels are very good and he is desperate to play football.

“He didn’t play last year so it would be like bringing a brand new car out of the garage if you did sign him, just putting a bit of petrol in him and letting him run.”

I want to wish Ricky all the best for the future, I think it's fair to say things didn't quite turn out how he had hoped but at least he got to pull that red jersey on for a first team fixture which is something I'm sure he will be very, very proud of after he's hung his boots up for good.
Good luck at West Brom big fella :buttrock

It was the best thing he could do in fairness and at least he remained in the top flight.
Best of luck to him.

It's a bit sad he didn't ever get a real chance here. He didn't show a whole lot with the little time he did get, but considering our lack of strikers and lack of scoring, you'd think somebody like him would've gotten a better run.

Glad he got to live his dream and play for his boyhood club, wish it would've gone better, and wish him the best at WBA. I think he could be a pretty decent signing for them.

I think it is a good deal for them and they will get him at a good time as with last year's frustrations he will be raring to go. People will say that Brendon could not get the best of him but you cannot compare the two side in the way they play. Lambert is a Pullis type player and suited to a team like that. I would have preferred him to Borini or  Ballotelli but I hope he does well.

We simply should never have bought him, another senseless waste of money. Good luck to the lad.

Pity it didn't work out for him here, I wish him all the best at WBA. I know he was poor for us but I hope we give him a good reception when he comes back to play against us.
