Europa League 2015/2016

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

If Arsenal win in the FA Cup final, then Liverpool will advance straight to Europa League group stages with the first game taking place on September 17th

However...

If Aston Villa win the FA Cup, then Liverpool will drop into the 3rd qualifying round, meaning our first Europa League fixture will take place on July 30th

Regardless of who is in charge for the new season, i think that we should give the kids a chance, we have some fantastic youth players and the experience of playing in this competition against some decent teams would benefit them and ultimately the first team squad massively

Give the kids a chance when there's 20-30 million at stake? Forget the kids, we need the money!

Have people forgotten that the winners of this competition get a place in the following years champs leauge, cant understand the disdain for a cup that is probably gonna be easier for us to win that for us to finish top 4.

I cant stand the competition for many reasons, none more so than the length of time it takes and the effect it has on league performances.
I can see the point of winning it but its one long, hard, soul destroying slog to get there...

Yep, any prem side that starts the season in the EL usually runs out of gas by March so I'm not normally a fan of the competition myself but as others have pointed out this could well be our best hope of getting back into the CL.
I think it all depends on who we bring in, if we bring in the likes of Ings and Milner then we may as well rest players during prem games to make sure they are in top condition for the EL because there's no way we are getting back into the top 4 with signings like that.

think we have got to aim to win it, sorry but I don't see us getting in the top  next year no matter who the manger is, the players on the to buy list don't cut it for me.
