Not sure if you've covered it CR, but Deli Ali seems to have gone to Newcastle. BR was very interested in him, though being out of pocket since last summer, LFC couldn't make an offer.

These young kids who perform well for the small teams dont often make the grade when signing for bigger clubs.

Look at Nick Powell, He was meant to be the next big thing. Looks like he will be going to Hull after Leicster cut his loan short.

Tom Ince - Went to Hull immediately loaned to forest and now looks as if he could be on his way to Derby

This news regarding Danny Ings is breaking and gathering pace with a few reporting it.....

Tony Barrett, Tim Abraham
Published 1 minute ago
Liverpool want to sign Danny Ings before the transfer window closes and are willing to loan
him back to Burnley for the rest of the season to get the deal done.
Ings has entered the final six months of his
contract and is attracting interest from a number of
clubs, most notably Tottenham Hotspur and Real Sociedad, but Burnley are determined to
keep the forward beyond next Monday’s deadline.
Rather than wait until the summer, Liverpool want to conclude a dea
l now. Brendan Rodgers
wants to bolster his attack as a result of Daniel Sturridge’s injury problems and the failure of
Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini to convince. The Liverpool manager views
Ings as a player of potential, but also one wh
o could provide genuine competition for places
next season.
Liverpool are hoping that the prospect of agreeing a fee for Ings will appeal to Burnley, given
that they will be entitled only to a compensation payment should the 22
-
year
-
old wait until his
cont
ract has expired to agree to a move.
Sturridge will be in the squad for the Barclays Premier League match at home against West
Ham United tomorrow after a five
-
month layoff with calf and thigh problems.
After a disappointing run of results in Sturridge’s a
bsence, Rodgers reverted to a 3
-
4
-
3
formation, or a slight variant, which brought a marked improvement in performance levels
and results.
Liverpool’s progress with the system has often been without a traditional striker, with
Raheem Sterling utilised in a
central role while Lambert, Balotelli and Borini have largely
been restricted to impact roles from the bench.
However, the Liverpool manager has few doubts about Sturridge’s ability to fit quickly into
the way Liverpool now play. “Daniel will bring somethi
ng really creative,” Rodgers said.
“Then it’s a case of managing in behind that.
The system does not have to change. It’s there
and the players are there if we have to do it.
“We are very much built around the collective, but it doesn’t half help when you
have
someone to finish it off at the top end of the field, and have that power and pace that Daniel
has.”
Rodgers believes that if Sturridge had been available all season, Liverpool would have a place
in the top four, rather than be challenging for one in
eighth position. “No question,” Rodgers
said. “It’s had a huge impact. The team struggled for a few months, but thankfully we’ve
nailed down a way of working and returned to our ideals.”
After such a long spell out injured, Liverpool appear most likely to
include the England
forward among the substitutes tomorrow. Sturridge, 25, said: “It has been very frustrating, but
it has been a learning curve.
“They have allowed me to learn something new, and for me being on the sidelines has been
great for the mental
side of the game. I have improved that and now I am very, very anxious
to get out there and play.”

Danny Ings?

Hardly a player I expect to see as a marquee goalkeeper or defender considering our requirement is to reinforce in these positions. do we really need any more attackers with Balo, Sturridge, Borini, Lambert, Sterling and Coutinho in place?

BR has already confirmed there wont be any new signings this season. Mostly likely because the owners dont trust him with any more money.

Signing Ings for next season sounds odd to me.

You would think if we spend any decent money in the summer it will be on a striker given our lack of goals.  Sturridge will hopefully be fit and we have Origi arriving, but it's not beyond the realms of possibility that Sturridge gets injured again and Origi is either slow to adapt or doesn't click at all.  That would leave us in the same position as we are now, which would be ridiculous.  Is Ings the answer if we had to rely on him as the main striker for 20+ games?  I don't think so, but admittedly I haven't watched a lot of him.

We should be able to trade Balotelli and Borini in the summer to generate around 20mil if we're lucky, as their stock is still high in Italy.  Put that and a bit of our own money towards a top class striker.  On top of that buy a good goalkeeper and if they were the only two bits of business we did this summer I'd be happy.  We don't want wholesale changes again because it will be another half a season of players learning how to play with each other like this season.

Liverpool FC have joined the race to sign Burnley striker Danny Ings.

The Reds are hoping to agree a deal prior to Monday night's transfer deadline and would then loan him back to the Clarets for the rest of the season.

Brendan Rodgers is a big admirer of the 22-year-old frontman, who has scored seven Premier League goals so far this season.

Ings is out of contract this summer but Burnley don't want to sell as they need him to spearhead their push for survival.

As a result Liverpool are prepared to buy now but let him stay at Turf Moor until May.

There is plenty of competition for his signature with Tottenham and Real Sociedad among the list of clubs who have also registered an interest.

As Ings is under the age of 24, anyone signing him this summer would need to pay Burnley around £3million in compensation.

Hampshire-born Ings started his career in the youth ranks at Southampton before becoming an apprentice at Bournemouth.

He made his first-team debut in 2009 and went on to score eight goals in 30 appearances for the Cherries.

In August 2011 he moved to Burnley for around £1million. He has netted 39 times in 114 matches for the Clarets and played a key role in their promotion to the top flight last season.

Liverpool and Arsenal have been handed a late boost in their pursuit of Luiz Adriano after Shakhtar's CEO revealed negotiations with Roma have stalled.

Roma are favourites to land Brazilian Adriano, 27, but have seen their initial £7.5m rejected by the Ukrainian club.

Both Liverpool and Arsenal are considering late bids for the striker, who scored nine goals in the Champions League group stage this season.

And CEO Sergei Palkin has told Ukrainian site Sport Express that Roma are still a long way off signing their man - as are Chelsea in their pursuit of Douglas Costa.

"We are in negotiations," he said. "But until now, neither of these clubs [Roma and Chelsea] have made a satisfactory offer, so naturally we're not going any further.

"These are the only clubs we're negotiating with. Usually these transfers are concluded on the last day of the window [February 2], unless the negotiating parties come to a compromise.

"He [Luiz Adriano] said he was happy at the Hirnyky [miners, Shakhtar's nickname], and doesn't want to leave.

"If we reach an agreement with Roma, he can leave the club, if not he'll be happy to stay.

"I think it's probable we'll have the same squad [after the window], I'm close to 100 per cent sure."

Liverpool have been given a late boost in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain striker Ezequiel Lavezzi, with rivals Napoli pulling out of the race.

The Reds have been linked with the Argentine international since the summer, but have yet to add to their squad in this month's transfer window.

However, Brendan Rodgers' side continue to be tipped to make at least one signing before Monday night's deadline and could yet move for Lavezzi after Napoli declared themselves out of the race.

"Though we love the player and his qualities, we are well stocked in the attacking department, both in terms of quantity and quality," sporting director Riccardo Bigon told Sky Italia.

"Lavezzi is not a necessity for us."

Burnley may dismiss it but its a typical FSG buy this and they will be all over it.

Nearly out of contract, small fee and small wages for a young English Premier League player.

No risk at all financially but much to gain if he does a good job.

The club is signing players on that basis not recruiting people that will significantly improve
our team and that worrys me really.

If you want to see a list of targets just check who's out or nearly out of contract.

The issue is, LFC have to sell first, and nobody is interested in any LFC player up for sale. For example, Balo is priced to high, hence no one interested.  Also, LFC have Origi coming in the summer.
