Song has been a revelation for the east London club since arriving on a season-long loan from Barcelona and has played a major role in the team pushing for a European spot.

The former Arsenal midfielder is unlikely to make a return to the Nou Camp, but there will be no shortage of clubs wanting to sign him on a permanent basis, with Liverpool among those said to be monitoring his situation.

Allardyce is hoping that the club's move into the Olympic Stadium next year and a successful end to the season could persuade Song to pledge his long-term future to West Ham.

He said: "It depends on whether Alex wants to stay. We want him to stay and I certainly want him to stay. But that lies with the financial side and the chairman with the negotiations.

"Whether that is financially feasible is another matter and if other clubs of a greater size entice him away. It will depend on if he feels comfortable enough to further his career at West Ham based on what we have done this year.

"Performing the way we have done this year will of course help and if we can finish it off. There are many factors that have to be covered but if you ask me if I want him to stay - of course I do."

We should have been looking at this fella last summer. Think he'd be a great signing for us, can only hope we go in hard for him before he's snapped up by someone else.

Couldn't agree more Woof, he is a fantastic player and am baffled why we didn't go in hard for him over the summer.

I don't like our chances in the next transfer window as he will have a group of suitors all lining up for his services.

By the way, why do we need James Milner? I think he's a good player but we have enough of Attacking midfielders and wingers...

Liverpool are ready to sign Arsenal ace Chuba Akpom with the young striker currently stalling on signing a new contract at the Emirates.

Akpom, 19, who is rated as one of Arsenal's most exciting talents, is in the final year of his deal with the Gunners - and is keeping his options open.

Arsenal have put fresh terms in front of him, but despite being promoted to the first-team and playing four games already, he could move away, with Liverpool keen.

They have joined Manchester City in the race while Borussia Dortmund and Twente have made pre-contract offers to get him in the summer.

Akpom is a prolific scorer for Arsenal's youth teams and is famed for his power and pace.

Liverpool are reportedly confident of sealing a deal to land Manchester City midfielder James Milner on a free transfer this summer.

The versatile City man is out of contract with the champions later this year and is yet to agree a new deal at the Etihad after seeing his first-team opportunities limited at the club over the past couple of years.

Milner has made 30 appearances this term with 11 starts, but was deployed in an unfamiliar role of striker over the Christmas period due to injuries to Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic.

Liverpool are monitoring the situation and will look to make the former Leeds United youngster a replacement for Steven Gerrard, according to ESPN.

The long-serving Reds skipper will depart for LA Galaxy in July and manager Brendan Rodgers sees Milner as the best man to replace the talismanic Gerrard at Anfield.

Milner is free to talk to foreign clubs this month ahead of a summer move, but the England international wants to remain in the Premier League and will have offers from elsewhere when his current deal expires.

Liverpool are considering a January move for Birmingham City teenager Demarai Gray, Goal understands.

The 18-year-old is one of the most highly-rated young players in English football and has been monitored by a number of Premier League clubs.

Goal understands Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg have launched a bid to sign the winger, but Liverpool have first option on the England youth international.

The Anfield club have the right to match any offer accepted by Birmingham for the player, having secured the deal when Jordon Ibe joined the St Andrew's club on loan last season.

But Birmingham boss Gary Rowett said over the weekend that Gray should only join a top four Premier League club.

Rowett said: "He's a fantastic talent. I think he's best served being here until an opportunity comes his way that is befitting of his talent.

"For me at the moment it's only probably a top four team that can do that. That's not being disrespectful to anyone else."

Gray has made 23 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring four goals.

And this story made it the official LFC site (AGAIN)  :help

Liverpool are closing in on a £14m deal for PSG attacker Ezequiel Lavezzi.

The Argentina international looks certain to leave the Parc des Princes after being left out of Laurent Blanc's winter training squad.

Lavezzi's most recent appearance for PSG was a five-minute cameo in the 1-0 win over Saint-Etienne, and the former Napoli man is said to be furious over his current treatment.

Liverpool tried to land Lavezzi last summer as Brendan Rodgers splashed the cash on a number of players, and the Reds are now set to finally get their man.

Reports claim that club scouts were present at PSG's last match, and that a £14m deal looks set to be completed before next week's deadline.

Rodgers has already been encouraged to sign Lavezzi by club legend Phil Thompson, who explained: "Liverpool do need a striker with injuries to Daniel Sturridge and the difficulties that Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli have had.

"Liverpool need someone who is a bit more established and who has played at a higher level like Gonzalo Higuain or Ezequiel Lavezzi."

Well since our defensive midfielder is playing CB and our attacking midfielder is playing as a wingback and our winger is our CF then it could mean we want him to play GK

Shakhtar Donetsk have rejected Roma's bid to sign sought-after striker Luiz Adriano.

According to reports in Italy, the Serie A outfit tabled a bid of £1.5m for an initial loan move with a future purchase option of £5m.

However, Shakhtar Donetsk CEO Sergei Palkin believes the combined fee of £7.5m is not enough for the club to cash in on the 27-year-old.

The news comes as a boost for interested Premier League pair Arsenal and Liverpool, who are now expected to make an increased offer.

"We're still dealing with the Giallorossi for Luiz Adriano," Palkin said.

"But for the moment the offer is inadequate.

"We'll see what's going to happen over the next few days."

The Brazil international has found the back of the net 121 times since his £2.5m move from Internacional in 2007.

Liverpool are keeping tabs on midfielder Leonardo Bittencourt, according to reports in Germany.

The 21-year-old has been in impressive form for Hannover this season, helping the German side climb to eighth in the Bundesliga at the midway point of the campaign.

Liverpool have reportedly scouted the German on several occasions and scouts have been pleased with what they have seen.

And now, according to Bild, Liverpool are considering a move for Bittencourt as the January transfer window draws to a close.

The Germany U21 international joined Hannover in 2013 from Borussia Dortmund, where he was struggling to break into the team.

However Jurgen Klopp's side inserted a buy-back clause into the deal and have the option to bring Bittencourt back to Dortmund ahead of any proposed move by Liverpool.

Liverpool are plotting a big-money offer to put to FC Porto for 17-year-old wonderkid Ruben Neves, according to the Mirror.

The defensive midfielder has already broken into the club's first team, but it could cost the Reds up to £29m in order to land him.

Teammate Cristian Tello has compared Neves to Barcelona holding player Sergio Busquets. He said: "He is fantastic with the ball at his feet, he knows how to position himself and he’s aggressive. He’s similar to Sergio Busquets.”

Arsenal and Liverpool are on red alert with Gonzalo Higuain set to leave Napoli at the end of the season.

The former Real Madrid man continues to insist he is happy in Serie A but reports in Italy suggest the Naples outfit will now look to cash in over the summer.

Napoli have a history of selling their prize assets and reinvesting quickly, bringing Higuain in as a replacement for Edinson Cavani when the Uruguayan was sold to Paris Saint-Germain.

And Rafa Benitez could look to repeat the trick by flogging Higuain and bringing in Colombian ace Jackson Martinez.

Yesterday Martinez's agent Henrique Pompeo told AreaNapoli.it: "His desire is clear: he wants to play in Serie A.

"He has his heart set on Italy and if he were to leave Porto then Serie A would be his first choice.

"It is very unlikely Porto would let him leave in January, because they still need him for the Champions League and to chase Benfica in the table, so consequently Martinez will only move at the end of the season.

"He'd be happy at Napoli because we are talking about a very special club, but he'd be happy with Roma, Milan or Juventus too. They are all great teams."

And it now remains to be seen whether Arsenal or Liverpool are willing to meet Napoli's asking price to bolster their striking options ahead of next season.
