Here's a question for you all....with Suarez reportedly "unhappy" at Barca, would anyone consider swapping him for Stirling?

Yes, in a flash. You can replace a winger but not so easy to replace a genius.

Sterling will sign the deal but that doesn't mean he wont leave the day after.

Club is simply protecting its interests like it did with Suarez but Sterling has some way to go before being
courted by clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona no matter what the papers say.

Brendan Rodgers is hopeful that Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling will agree a new contract with the club in the near future.

The 20-year-old scored a sublime equaliser against Chelsea on Tuesday night to secure a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the Capital One Cup semi-final.

Next up for the Reds in a busy week is a fourth round meeting with Bolton Wanderers in the FA Cup at Anfield on Saturday evening.

As he previewed that tie today, Rodgers was asked for an update on any negotiations with Sterling regarding a fresh deal.

"Obviously the club are speaking with his representatives on it," reported the boss. "I would think that will be concluded very imminently.

"You can see he's very happy, it's nothing to do with Raheem - he wants to be here. Hopefully we'll get a solution on that very soon."

I'm sure the lad is really happy here but he isn't exactly rushing to sign that contract for some reason. Its another one that has been dragging on for months.

We are a desperate mob when a 20 year old is the clubs primary hopes for success and extorts whatever wages he likes.

Bloody agents, pure evil. We might have to pay Sterling 150k a week to keep him here a bit longer. At that rate of wage increase he won't be here too long.

But he is in for a shock if his performance drops again.

I read that the deal is agreed and only minor paperwork issues left to sign, papers making a story where there isn't one (again)

Raheem has bags and bags of potential but for now he is a good player, not a great one.
His finishing, composure in front of goal and general awareness are still quite poor.
He is certainly not in a position to be demanding CL football or huge wage increases.  (Doubt the stories are true)

At this point in his career we should hope he is focusing on developing as a player more than wage increases, which will likely be offered anyways in line with his development.

Problem is his agent. I'm sure Sterling is delighted at how his career is panning out so far and isn't overly hung up about the money. We will have to pay though as there will be interest from a number of clubs.

The lad has been thrust into the spotlight this season and has become very much the focus of the team in an attacking perspective. His agent will want him paid in line with others who carry the same responsibility and pressure. He would have a very strong case imo.

Well Sterling signs the contract, not his agent. It's Sterling's call after all, he can even fire his agent if he wants to.

Sterling's a good player but I think he's a bit of a twat and full of himself.
