Xherdan Shaqiri's future at Bayern Munich has become more and more uncertain in recent months, with the player himself previously admitting he was disappointed not to move over the summer.

Manchester United and Liverpool have been linked with Shaqiri before and the Daily Express reports that Bayern have priced the 23-year-old Swiss international at a very reasonable £16m.

Reports in the German media also claim that the Bundesliga champions have won the race to sign 15-year-old Norwegian sensation Martin Odegaard ahead of the Premier League duo.

Liverpool have agreed a £3million deal to sign Malaga goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, according to reports.

The Reds are on the lookout for a quality glovesman ahead of the January transfer window.

And after weeks of speculation, they appear to have moved for Ochoa with reports saying a £3million fee has been agreed.

Ochoa was a target for Liverpool in the summer, when he was a free agent, but ended up joining Malaga instead.

Liverpool are making an audacious bid to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech on loan.

Brendan Rodgers will press through with his plans to bring in a genuine rival for Simon Mignolet, and Chelsea have not dismissed completely the idea of a loan for Cech.

They now don't see Liverpool as a rival in this season's title race, and with the Reds out of the Champions League, a move for Cech could help Jose Mourinho's side.

He would be prevented from playing at Stamford Bridge, but would be available for matches against Manchester City, United and Arsenal if a deal could be agreed.

Liverpool have dismissed claims they have already lined up a £3m move for Mexico keeper Guillermo Ochoa.

The Anfield club have also been linked with a January move for Barcelona right back Martin Montoya after the Spanish international's agent said the defender has asked to leave the Nou Camp in the transfer window.

Speaking yesterday, the player's representative Juande Dios Carrasco said: "He is going to go in January and all that has to be done is to reach an agreement with Barcelona.

"There are a number of clubs in England that are ready to negotiate for him and his buy-out clause is 20 million euros."

The massive stumbling block though, is the fee, with Barca demanding the full buy out clause - which is an eye-watering near £18m for an inexperienced full back.

Shaqiri and Montoya on loan with the option to buy. Also would look at Cabaye on loan.

Striker and a GK on a perm.

Would definitely monitor the situation of Jan Vertongen

Liverpool line up SHOCK return for Rafa Benitez to replace under-pressure Brendan Rodgers

LIVERPOOL have targeted former Reds manager Rafa Benitez as the man to replace under-fire boss Brendan Rodgers

The Reds are understood to be in the market for a new man at the helm after a shaky start to the campaign.

Rodgers led Liverpool to Premier League runners up last term, but his men have struggled to continue their form their form and currently sit in the bottom half of the table and 18 points behind leaders Chelsea.

The Anfield outfit also failed to progress to the Champions League knock-out stages, finishing third in Group B after winning just one game.

Zenit's Andre Villas-Boas, Borussia Dortmund's Jurgen Klopp and Atletico Madrid's Diego Simeone are all on the Reds' radar to replace the Northern Irishman.

But according to today's reports in Italy, Benitez - who won the Champions League, FA Cup, Super Cup and Community Shield from 2004 to 2010 at Anfield - is now at the top of Liverpool's shortlist.

The Spaniard - who would reportedly welcome a return to Merseyside - has come under some pressure of his own at Napoli, with the club sitting a disappointing seventh in Serie A.

Arsenal are not prepared to pay Palermo's asking price of £31m for striker Paulo Dybala.

The Gunners were understood to be leading the chase for the Argentine striker, who's been likened to compatriot Sergio Aguero.

However, today's reports in Italy now suggest that Arsene Wenger is refusing to pay Palermo's asking price of £31m.

Wenger is understood to be readying an offer substantially less in time for January, which could boost Liverpool and Manchester United's chances. The Premier League rivals are expected to meet the Serie A outfit's fee.

The Sicilian's club's president Maurizio Zamparini has previously said on the speculation: "Within two years, he's going to be better than Cristiano Ronaldo, [Lionel] Messi and [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic.

"It would take €40m (£31m) to take him away from us. He's the best striker in Serie A."

Birmingham manager Gary Rowett is braced for bid from Premier League clubs for teen talent Demarai Gray once the January transfer window opens - but insists there is no financial pressure to sell.

Gray, 18, announced himself in the Championship with a hat-trick against Reading last Saturday and is in talks with his club over a new two-year deal.

His current contract has 18 months to run.Rowett believes Birmingham is the best place for the winger's development, with Liverpool, Tottenham and Crystal Palace monitoring his situation.

Palace had a £500,000 bid for Gray rejected by Birmingham in the summer and Rowett says it would take a large offer to force even consideration.

"He's as good as any young player I've seen at this age," said Rowett.

"At 18-years-old, the ability to score a hat-trick at Championship level doesn't happen very often. He's an exciting player. He gets the fans off the edge of their seats.

"I'm realistic, I would expect some interest in January and I would expect that interest to be very strong from top clubs, because he is a top player.

"But also you have to look at that he's playing regular football in the Championship. Sometimes for a young player it's just as important to get 100 starts than go to a bigger club and sit on the bench or play in U21 squads.

"What he's shown is we shouldn't be looking to sell him for a low fee just to fit his ambitions. The club has a real potential star player on its hands.

"We obviously have to manage him, manage his expectations, manage what he does on the pitch because he's got a lot to learn still. There are not many young British players around who can go past people, are quick, and can score goals."

Arsenal and Liverpool target Martin Montoya still wants to leave Barcelona despite starring for his current club in the Spanish League Cup.

The full-back has made just one La Liga appearance this season having fallen behind Dani Alves, Adriano and Douglas in the pecking order.

Montoya had the chance to leave in the summer when a number of clubs were interested, including Juventus, but he chose to stay in Catalonia and fight for his place.

Now, however, he has come to terms with the fact he will have to move on to find regular first-team action and even an impressive performance in the 8-1 win against Huesca on Tuesday has not changed his mind.

The player's agent, Juan de Dios Carrasco said: "Martin playing in the Cup does not change anything; he wants to start and Barcelona know it."

Liverpool are reportedly set to make a £50million bid for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema as they look to solve their striker problems.

The Reds need to add more fire power to their ranks in the new year, with Brendan Rodgers' side struggling for goals this term.

And reports suggest Liverpool have decided to turn to Madrid ace Benzema to solve the goalscoring issues, with a £50million bid set to go in.

Madrid do not want to sell the Frenchman in January but it is hoped the giant offer could tempt them into doing business.

Liverpool have also been linked with the likes of Swansea striker Wilfried Bony and Porto ace Jackson Martinez.

Liverpool have put Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema at the top of their wishlist for the January transfer window.

Brendan Rodgers has struggled for goals from his front-line this term, with main striker Daniel Strurridge being out of action since August 31 with a number of injury setbacks.

And Rodgers is keen to address the situation in January, with today's reports in Spain suggesting he'll make a £50m bid for Benzema.

The Frenchman - who has also attracted interest from Arsenal - has been heavily linked with a move away from Real in recent weeks, with Spanish journalist Manuel Esteban claiming it's only a matter of time before he leaves.

Real boss Carlo Ancelotti is understood to be keen to raise funds to sign Manchester City's Sergio Aguero and Borussia Dortmund's Marco Reus.

He said: "Benzema is on thin ice. If they receive a big bid, they will not be hesitant."

"The dream is to combine Kun Aguero, Marco Reus and Cristiano Ronaldo, who would become the best front line in the world of football."

Liverpool, Tottenham and Crystal Palace are set to be in a three-way battle for Birmingham teenager Demarai Gray in the January transfer window.

The 18-year-old striker hit a hat-trick in the Blues' 6-1 victory over Reading last weekend to take his tally for the season to four goals.

Gray is said to be in negotiations over a new two-year deal at St Andrew's but the Championship side may have to brace themselves for offers next month, according to the Daily Mail.

Birmingham boss Gary Rowett says he is aware of the interest of the Premier League trio, but insists he won't be pressured into letting the youngster depart.

"What he's shown is we shouldn't be looking to sell him for a low fee just to fit his ambitions. The club has a real potential star player on its hands.

"I would expect if someone does want to buy him he's not going to come. There are not many young British players around who can go past people, are quick, and can score goals."

Tottenham are ready to go 'all in' to sign Porto's Jackson Martinez in the January transfer window, according to reports in Portugal.

Liverpool have been strongly tipped to move for the Colombian international following an impressive showing at the World Cup, while Arsenal have also been mentioned in connection with a deal.

But despite the 28-year-old agent insisting his client won't be looking to quit Porto in the coming window, speculation is mounting in Portugal over a Tottenham bid for his services.

According to newspaper Record, Spurs will make a serious move for Martinez in the New Year, despite Porto's progression to the knock-out stages of the Champions League.

However, Record's report fails to add new details to the rumour which surfaced some weeks ago.
