Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby red till i die!! » Tue Nov 25, 2014 12:07 pm

This one is a massive game for us and one where we need to show up in.
We need to play with a bit of unity and conviction, we need to work the ball and create chances for ourselves as that is something we haven't been doing this season. we won't score goals unless we give the strikers a platform to operate on.
Defensively we need to be sharper and the midfield has got to contest theirs as we lost that battle in anfield and it wasnt because of quality but because they worked harder than we did.

Make no mistake about it as this game will be hostile and they will want a scalp, what we cannot do is fail to show up again or worse replicate the same turgid performances from the last few weeks.
This game will tell us a lot about the current mentality of the squad and management.

Totally agree, massive game and i'm waiting for the team announcement with bated breathe. I reckon BR has already started to consider his team for this must win game and his team sheet probably starts like this:-

Gerrard
Johnson
Skrtel
Mmmm who else???

Sterling could do with a spell on the bench. He's been as poor as i've seen him lately and a rest would probably help him along.

Balotelli has been ruled out and hasn't traveled with the squad.

tbh a lot of them look physically and mentally gone, especially the England contingent who had to deal with the fallout from a poor World Cup showing right on the back of of our title challenge unravelling.
The likes of Gerrard, Sterling, Henderson and Johnson are probably playing as poorly now as they have ever done in their careers.

This game actually isnt must win.
Obviously we want to win but if Madrid beat Basel and we do also we can draw tomorrow and still take second.
We can also still take second if we lose tomorrow but Madrid and us beat Basel by a few goals.

I am not saying we shouldnt be aiming to win, just that we dont need to go all out for it and risk being really open.
We have been so porous at the back that keeping it relatively tight first half and then trying to nick it might be a better tactic.

It's not very scientific but going by the training pics it looks like the team could look like this -

                               Mingolet

    Manquillo       Toure        Lovren         Moreno

            Can              Gerrard          Allen

             Sterling         Borini          Markovic

Brendan sometimes throws a surprise or two in so I wouldn't take that as gospel.

I'll be surprised if we get a win tomorrow. We are poor and the Bulgarian are a very technical team which would net at least once.

Don't be shocked if he plays the same team as Palace.

We NEED a presence in midfield.  Lucas  has to play DM for me.

His tackle sucess rate is decent, not that this matters to B-Rod.

-----------------------------Mignolet  :help  --------------------------
  Manquillo------------Lovren ---------Toure------------Enrique
------------------------------ Lucas-------------------------------------
------------------Hendo-----------------Can---------------------------
--------Sterling-----------------------------Coutinho-----------------
--------------------------Borini  :help ---------------------------------

I think we need energy from the front, with Borini you'll get a runner/presser, (which i believe starts from the front) all be it he's absolute shyte.

Lambert has to be plan B, something different last 20 mins if we are chasing a goal.

Luodcrets are 10/1 to score a pen anytime, prints yourself some money.

Why?

We have conceded two pens all season, one in the league against West Brom and the other in the League Cup. I think the odds are accurate of the chances.
