Dear all

It is with much sadness that I have to tell you that our friend Al Lewis, Red37, has passed away. Al's ex-partner Diane wrote to me to tell me the news, and to ask me if I could pass it on to his friends and fellow supporters of Liverpool Football Club - his great passion. The cause of death is not yet known. He had not been seen since Friday, and when his family alerted the authorities his body was found.

Most of us know that Al has, for some time, been battled his own demons and struggling with depressions. We also knew him as a generous, kind and passionate member of this forum, to which he contributed greatly as a moderator. Let us all hope that Al has finally found peace.

This community was very important for Al, Diane added this

I know that he would be extremely proud of them words and of all of you for thinking about him as a friend. His Liverpool passion will live on in me, his children and of course every time they play xx

:(

P.S. Woof, moderators, if you feel this post should go somewhere else just move it.

Sh*t news, used to read one or two of his opinions and could see he knew his stuff.

Whatever the circumstances of his death I hope his family are all coping as best they can.

Was wondering just the other day what had happened to Red37 as it's been awhile since we last heard from him.

Terrrible terrible news. Sincere condolences to his family.

i was a friend of Al on facebook as well as on here (as were many of us i'm sure), and had been following and talking with him about his worries and difficulties. his lovely dry, almost morbid, sense of humour always seemed to help him through his darker moments and toughest trials. he was always one of the more rational ones on this forum, even though i didn't always agree with his delivery or his opinions. his absence has been felt on the forum since he stopped contributing.

its always sad when someone you know, however distantly, has passed away. but when it seems that the shit that life throws at us, and that society's lack of compassion for the victims of that shit is a large factor then it becomes truly heartbreaking. i don't believe in heaven or any klind of life-after-death bollox - but like others have said, i hope that in some kind of abstract way there is now peace for Al.

echoing what andy says really. i used to chat with al on facebook now and again, he'd had his troubles but i got the impression he was slowly turning the corner. he came a cross as a genuinely nice, gentle bloke who could have a wry smile no matter what the situation. poor fella, hope he can find his peace now.

Its not right is it? Such a stupid age to go at.

Rest in peace Al.

Like others have said, he knew his stuff and worded them perfectly. I remember also he shared the same birthday as me (8th June).

He was missed before when he wasn't posting, and knowing he never will again is criminal.
