GLEN JOHNSON - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

This may sound really harsh but Glen is (in my opinion) the worst player to play for us in a number of years, i question his effort, his desire and his application on the field

I would prefer have a 20 year old out of the academy who will run his heart out on the pitch for us than ever see him in the first team again

An example of GJ at his very best

Somebody suggested, I think on this forum, that Johnson had a clause in his contract that sates if he is fit he plays. At the time I thought this was a joke but I have come to the conclusion that it is the reason he simply never gets dropped or subbed. The taxi should have been called a very long time ago !! Hate to criticise any of the lads but he simply isn't up to the job.
Net Spend Over The Last 5 Years (10 years
are in brackets)
LFC £255m (£467m)
Everton £38m (£287m)
Arsenal £645m6 (£925m)
Spurs £510m (£541m)
Chelsea £788m (£1007m)
Man City £307m (£1012m)
Man United £702m (£1249m)

Glen hasn't been a problem for ages now ,it has always been the manager. BR is to blame. No point blaming Glen this has been his game for years a glimpse of talent and bucket-load of stupidity and lack of effort. BR could say he is in a good crowd of previous LFC and National Team managers but they all displayed a gross amount of misjudgment and stupidity when it comes to this ridicules RB.

The England international is out of contract at the end of this season and is yet to agree an extension but insists he is relaxed about the situation
Liverpool right-back Glen Johnson insisted he is not worried about his contract status at the club.

Johnson is set to become a free agent at the end of the 2014-15 season and there are doubts as to whether Liverpool will offer the 30-year-old - one of the club's highest earners since arriving in 2009 - a new deal.

The England international, who suffered a thigh injury during Liverpool's 3-1 loss to Premier League champions Manchester City on Monday, admits no talks have taken place over a new contract but insists he is not anxious about the situation.

"I'm very relaxed about my contract," Johnson told the Liverpool Echo. "There are no talks going on with the club at the moment. There were minor talks towards the end of last season but nothing else.

"I've loved playing my football here from day one. I'm more than happy here. But obviously I can only talk to the club about it when they want to speak to me."

Johnson is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any club in January but is refusing to look too far ahead as he attempts to help Liverpool to Premier League glory this term.

"In January I could [talk to other clubs] , but I'll worry about that when January comes," the former Chelsea full-back added. "At the minute I’m playing for Liverpool and I'm happy here. I’m more than willing to stay.

"I'll just concentrate on things here week by week. The manager has picked me so far. That shows he wants me here."

Will be his last season with us. Had some bright spots for us but ultimately been average with a regular shockers thrown in for good measure. Think he has the talent but don't think the mentality is there. I maybe wrong, but just get the impression if he has a poor game, he is not the type to have a sleepless night over it. He is on a downward curve in his career and about the right time him and the club parted ways
